69109, I Cant fit a bolt under the HRC DOWNPIPE BEND????? Stud?? Posted by xEclipsE RaceRx, Apr-15-04 10:27 AM
So Im trying to bolt up the 3 bolts that are on the downpipe that goto the turbine housing and I can get the two on the sides, but the one underneath the bend of the downpipe, i cant get the bolt in there. So im probably gonna have to get a stud and a nut. What did everyone do? And if you did just get a stud a nut where did you get it? Can i just pick one up at like Home Depot or from Arp or somethin?

I shaved the hard angles of the nut down a wee bit at the top and it worked fine.

I used the stud HRC sends out. Even with the stud you need to put that nut on first and then tighten it.

I still don't know why HRC did not go with a V-clamp set up. Otherwise I think the stud/nut combo is your best bet.

Pffft, I would have liked a complete down pipe solution.

the 3rd bolt is a pain in the ass i know. the best way i've found is to put thje nut flush against the flange and then put it up to the studs and start to thread it slowly. dont put it over the studs and expect you'll be able to fit the nut in there after and get it on.
another awesome thing, courtesy of HRC.
other things that pissed me off aboyut my hrc 'kit'
1.) ghey downpipe, thats all there is to it 2.) fuel pressure regulator that cant regulate fuel ( :wary ) 3.) manifold HEX BOLTS?! wtf?

Yah that's one of the suckiest things about the HRC kit. I use a bolt, make sure you put it in first, press it up to the turbo, and tighten it before even starting the other two bolts. I also have to remove the radiator fans, place some cardboard in front of the radiator to avoid smashing it, and I have a stubby wrench that I cut in half to allow me some room to work in there. :bash
