69108, Simple, possibly stupid, question regarding ECU's and Turbocharging the 420A

Alright, I know the problems our cars have with boost and the stock computer, and how we use supplemental ECU's or other setups to overcome this problem, but I've gotta ask...

Why hasn't someone made an aftermarket ECU that is programmed for boost? I'm just thinking, people shell out so much for 8 injector setups or other alternatives so there must be a market. Hell, AFX makes an ECU for N/A setups, so how come no one has tapped the turbo market?

I'm just honestly curious. Any answers would be great.

Companies don't like reverse engineering ECU's I'd imagine. Especially for a car like the 2GNT. It's a difficult process.

AFX only did it for 97's and it's still a 4-6 week turn around period. The rest of us are screwed.

It's a lot of work for very little return. They would probably want so much for it you would be better off buying a standalone.

Fair enough, my curiousity was just peaked by my friend who is swapping a B series Honda engine into his Del Sol, and is turbocharging it. He got a 'Hondata' ECU that was programmed to recognize boost, and not for a great deal of money. I wondered why we couldn't possibly get something similar by one of the many aftermarket vendors, though I do fully realize Hondas have a greater aftermarket demand than we do.

Ah well, worth asking, eh?

No one has done it. That is all. Do it, sell me one.

Point me to some detailed documentation, and I'll snag a spare ECU and mess around with it (when I have my new engine, so if something goes wrong I won't be completely screwed :P).
