LOL Corbin's the only one I know who's been running for a long time, but all of you are great!

I was thinking of upgrading my wire, and coil pack because I was watching Popular Hot Rodding, and they were saying that it is important to upgrade the stock ignition system since detonation is a problem for aftermarket turbochargers. I guess my logic is to upgrade the ignition system (coil and plugs) a bit since our stock ones are made for a 140 hp car.

Anway, I am interested in the after-affects of the upgraded coil-pack/wires. Did you notice slight increase in excelleration, lower EGTs, better mileage, better boost transition, etc... Pretty much, anything that is better for the car.

Also, how much did you spend?

i noticed smoother idle, got excellent gas mileage 26-28mpg city while boosted, ran 14.50@98.38 in the 1/4..dunno how much the ignition helped, but power was always very smooth and hard pulling...spent $100 for the coil, wires and plugs...

Cool thanks. I'll give ya points. Right now, I am doing mods that will keep my car happy so I am thinking of upgrading this. I've already bought an oil cooler, sandwich adapter, oil temp, and oil pressure gauge.

edit: nevermind, I already rated you! :)

I didn't replace my wires or coil pack until it needed it. I started to get hesitation when I loaded the engine, so I replaced both the coil pack and wires. Comparing the aftermarket stuff to the stockers (when they worked correctly), I had no noticeable differences. If the idle was smoother, it was very marginal and gas mileage hasn't really changed (I got 30-35mpg w/ both setups).

Im running the Screamin Demon coil pack with the MSD 8.5mm wires, and Accel plugs gapped at .060. I didnt really notice much of a difference after swapping the coil pack.
