6884, Spool up time?

LAST EDITED ON 28-Jun-01 AT 02:17 PM (PST)

I recently extended my wastegate rod a bit to lower the boost on my HRC kit. I think that it makes the wastegate stay a bit open and that is why it spools up slower. I am hitting about 6 psi. I have noticed that it takes a lot more to spool it up now. Does spool up time increase proportionaly to lowering boost pressure? Maybe it is because my wastegate rod is unscrewed some to lower the boost? Oh well, all things will be back to normal when i get that starion FMIC on. I can't wait to be fast again!! I have been spoiled with the 7 psi I was running for the first week. Boost is VERY addictive. }>

I thought I explained this before to you ;)

You do in fact have a 7psi actuator. When you loosen it, you are lossening pressure on the valve and allowing air to push it open sooner thus causing a boost leak. This means the turbo actually has to work harder to produce 6psi then it did when the valve was shut tight at 7psi. This creates a slower spoolup time. It is ok to do this since you are trying to avoid running 7psi, but it does make everything slower and creates a constant boost leak.
