68810, Turbo question Please help!!
Posted by Blitzclipse, Apr-11-04 02:41 PM
Hi:
I installed a hahn stage 1 kit on my 1995 eclipse that I purchased used. I upgraded it to a stage 2 kit with a 12x20 FMIC, vortech fmu, and 2.5" intercooler piping. Now for my question. I need to know what I can use to connect the pipe to the turbo outlet. I used a rubber ninety, but it just melted. Another question that I have is after running my car pretty hard my turbo header is glowing red. How hot is it supposed to get? This is at 6-7 psi. This is my first turbo. Although, I have owned supercharged vehicles. ie. A lightning and a kenne bell supercharged dakota r/t.

I'm in the process of turbocharging my car so I may not have an answer for you, but it sounds like you are running way too hot!! Do you have an EGT gauge hooked up? If so, what temps are you getting? Your manifold should not be glowing red at anytime. That is why that 90 is melting. The boost level seems to be fine from what specs you have given. Someone else needs to chime in with possible solutions. It sounds to me that you are just pushing your car too hard. If you don't have a EGT gauge, go invest in one. It'll save you some Money in the long run.

just cause your manifold is glowing does mean anything. you should see mine when im boosting on the highway. it glows white at night. i even have a video of it somewhere.

go over to www.roadraceengineering.com and buy one of their high temp elbows.

if you dont have an egt gauge, get one.

How much heat can the manifold hold?
