68467, Vortech FMU install Question PLZ HELP!!
Posted by Blitzsuperstar, Apr-05-04 10:39 AM
I Was wondering if i could either splice the fmu into the fuel hose (to the right side of the fuel rail) or replace that hose and have 2 injector lines going to(the fmu from the original line)and from(the fmu to the fuel rail).
also, it didnt come with install instructions because i've been putting it together piece by piece. if this wont work, could someone please help me out with the install???

its a 1999 Eclipse GS

THANK YOU!!!!

(oh ya, plz dont tell me to search, cuz i have, and cant find anything with install instructions)

if its the FMU, no you can't splice into anything...leave the fuel rail lines alone....you have 2 options on where u can mount the FMU...1) either in the engine bay, where you have to run 2 long fuel lines all the way back under that car to the stock FPR or 2) install the FMU back by the stock FPR and run 1 long vac line to the engine bay<---recommended.

i had the FMU mounted in the engine bayand always had a nasty gas smell over 5psi..i could never figure out why but i wish i had installed it back by the tank..so i recommend doing it by the tank...what you have to do is buy some fuel line and then run 1 from the stoick FPR to the "IN" side of the FMU(should be labeled) then run another line from the "out" side of the FMU back to the fuel tank return...if i remember correctly that is the way to do it....i'm sure someone will step in and correct me if i'm wrong.

That's the right way to install the FMU. But you forgot to tell him to run a vacuum line back there and hook it up. Hopefully he would know that, but it never hurts to double and triple up on information.

that helps alot.

i've decided upon reading up, and what not that i'm going to mount it back by the fpr, and run a long vac. line.

anyone have step by step instructions or anything else that could help me?

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!

Anyone who mounts the FMU up front and can smell gas has seriously screwwed up the easier install on our cars.....sorry to be blunt but its true. I have the FMu up front and never had a problem. Get two 5' brake lines 5/16 or 3/8. wire tie them to your existing fuel lines very tightly and securely. run the return hose from the factory regulator to one line and the oposit end of the hardline goes to the in side of the fmu. run the outlet of the fmu to the other brake line and the opposite end of that line will go to the gas tank return. That is the easiest way to mount the fmu up front.
