Damn, I'm tired..Took all weekend of fabing, cutting, fitting, and welding to get this thing on, but it came out perfect. Much more work than I had thought, but it was well worth it :) I put on the universal FMIC from HRC, clocked the turbo compressor outlet down, and welded up some 2.25" mandrel bent piping, painted gloss red to match the car. Well, enough jibber jabing, here are the pics!

Here I made some L brackets to mount the IC, welded them to the frame, and painted to match...

Here you can see where I cut out the 5 mph bumper support brace..




Inlet pipe coming from the turbo, and around the passenger side. Its a tight fit, but it clears everything there rather well...Had to cut the plastic wheel well gaurd a bit, and bend the P/S pump lines just a hair out of the way..




Driver side piping going up to the engine bay...




Piping coming up and going to the TB..I used the HRC pipe that connects to the TB here..it fits, might as well use it..




Sortof hard to see here, but this is a pic of the clocked turbo outlet facing downward. The pipe turns 90 degree accross and to the passenger side..

Pic of the clocked turbo, and how I mounted the wastegate. There is a round metal "nub" next to the compressor outlet, and I ground that down just a bit to be even with the normal height of where the wastegate mounts to the housing. I then drilled it, and tapped it for a bolt. Drilled the actuator mounting plate for the bolt hole, and mounted it. I then took a piece of metal brace, and bolted that to the stock hole in the wastegate mounting plate, and then bolted the other end of that bracket to the compressor housing stock wastegate hole location. I basically did this so the wastegate would not rotate at all with just having one bolt holding it on. Its very solid, and its not going anywhere..

I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and it took a hell of a lot of work..ran into a few snapped off bolts that hold the pass side of the bumper to the fender..took about 2 hours just to drill them out..and cutting the front bumper opening took some time to get it right..Car feels GREAT..pulls damn hard at 12 psi..Batteries were going dead on my pocketlogger, but intake temps while driving were in the 60's(it was in the mid 40's outside). I know when it was in the low/mid 80's last year, at 13 psi I was getting almost 160 degrees intake temps! Should be very interesting to see what I get now..This should be all the IC I ever need..I hope :) Enjoy..

My hat is off to you for the weld quality. I just got a Miller Dynasty 200 TIG an I'm slowly learning. I got a Miller 175 MIG but the TIG is much better IMO

Anyway, how did you clock the turbo. I'm new to the hole turbo family and didn't know that could be done, what all is involved in that?

TIG is sweat. But MIG will surfice for most things.

Yeah, I used a Lincoln Mig welder to weld the piping. Much easier than TIG, and works just fine for this purpose..As far as clocking the turbo, its pretty simple really. There is a C snap ring on the compressor where it meets the center section. Just use some snap ring pliars, and take the ring off, and then you can fully remove/rotate the entire compressor housing. Put the snap ring back in, and that's it! Dealing with re-mounting the wastegate was the hard part..

Haha yeah, not much security really, but just a little..another reason I wanted it on, is that there are 2 mounting points under each headlight, that attach the bumper to the support. Its those
stupid plastic push clips, but it does give the bumper more support with them on. Bumper is on nice and tight :)

Good job man. Looks great. I also got my starion mounted up today. Took me about 2 day's as well. I have the linc. welder also, and couldn't get the damn thing to weld nice as yours. My heat range is too high I believe. It would just burn through :(. Anyway my hat is off to you on the welds :).

What model do you have? I have the Pro MIG 135, and use a C-5 setting. Its perfect for exhaust pipe. My welds look like this:

I cut soo much of my bumper support that I highly doubt it'll hold in a crash, but Matt is right though; I had MASSIVE gaps underneath my headlights without the bumper support.

Was wondering what kind of paint did you use for those pipes? I've got the black HRC piping and I want to make them red like that. Would I have to sand or prime them, then paint em with that stuff you used?

My fmic is a bottom right to left like yours, I plan on just routing the passenger side up and above the intercooler, but i liked how you went around the other side by the AC, hows the fitment all right there? I guess it helps cuz your turbo is clocked down. I would like to use my bumper support to hold up my bumper as well, guess well see how things go.

Glad you guys like it..I sure do :) I used some red Enamel from Autozone. I first cleaned/prepped the piping, then primered with red automotive primer. Then painted red with the enamel, with around 3-4 light coats. As for the fitment of the lower pipe, it really fits pretty good there. It is fairly close to the AC, but I have solid motor mounts, and the motor doesn't move at all..I'd say its around an 1" clearance there, and around an 1" clearance from the downpipe. Its a close fit, but def enough room if you take your time to fit it up. If you didnt clock the turbo, it makes for a lot more piping, and you would have to fit up 2 pipes on the driver side, instead of one. Clocking the turbo was patheically simple, and figuring out the wastgate wasn't really that hard either..

You might think about wrapping your downpipe in header wrap, and possibly that first bend of your IC piping too. It would help some to keep temps down, and would also expedite the flow of the exhaust gasses. Looks great, almost makes me want to do a FMIC now instead of using the SMIC I have. Mike, I'll talk to you on AIM about painting your IC pipes, I have a perfect solution for you.

What size piping did you use? I am assuming you got the aluminized steel bends from JC Whitney. Do you remember what bends you needed? I am seriously thinking about doing a FMIC now instead of using my sidemount. You inspire me.

I used in total, 2 180 U bends, and 4- 90 bends, all 2.25" aluminized from JC Whitney..I did use one part of the HRC piping that goes from the throttle body inlet and out a bit..I used this section of pipe on my old SMIC setup, but you can see in one of the pics where the pipe is red..You would need one more 90 bend for that if you don't have that pipe..

What does that do exactly, and any pics?

You know what I just checked my welder and it is model #44567. It only has 2 settings on it, high and low. There is also an adjustment for the feed speed.
