68241, Think I'm gonna break my axels? Posted by etx, Apr-02-04 09:48 AM
Ok, so milan raceway opens tomarrow for test n tune. The Z is not ready for the track, but the eclipse is... Kinda. The MSD dis2 is still not working. But I can deal without that. My boost controller is setup to run 7 psi in 1st, 18 psi in 2nd and 22 psi in 3rd. I'll probably adjust the boost up in first each run until I start looseing traction. So I am on stock axels, who thinks they are gonna take a shit on me? They have about 70k miles on them.

If they don't break going from 1st to second, they won't.

You better have some grippy tires for 22 psi...regardless of gear.

Hey have fun at the track. If it breaks you cna just drive the z around. I am curious to see what kind of times you get. I think I might up my boost to 18psi once I get my axels next week.
best time so far 14.3 @ 101.1mph(no traction) fastest 2GNT with a hitch! until proven wrong...

What are you going to run for tires, drag radials, slicks? Patrick 96 GS 14.14 @ 96.5 mph on 8psi 8 Nov.02 HRC kit, S20G, FMIC, Howell bottom end 8.6 pistons, S-FMU, Blitz BOV, P&P head, SS valves, lots more little goodies

22psi on a 16g? holy monkey
19psi is 2.2 p/r for a td05-16g, thats like 76% efficiency. 22 is a shit load of boost for a 16g
good luck man :thumbsup _________ 96 talon esi-t san clemente, ca

not to be an ass but are you running race fuel?? boosting a 16g out of efficency w/ pump = not a good idea, especially if your dis2 isn't there to help out and retard a few degrees. i'll assume you know your shit b/c of your automobiles and their setups, just checking

good luck, you may need it if you don't have spare axles with ya. In my case using Nitto 555r's on factory 16's they would snap on hard upshifts inside of the 330 mark. Depending on whether or not the track is sprayed also makes a difference, but if you figure to be at or above 250-260 at the tires don't be too surprised if they do.

For the record guys, he has a nice pair of badass slicks that he will be running.....thats why he is concerned about breaking axles.

wait your boost controller sees what gear you're in and adjusts the psi accordingly?!?!?!
or... do you just mean you have high/mid/low boost settings??!

Well I ended up taking the Z because I got the emanage ignition harness installed so I could actually get nuts on it.

Those are the wheels I was going to use on the eclipse. I got them for the eclipse, but they fit both cars.
Yeah the Apexi AVCR will modify the boost based on gear. Once you set your duty cycle you can goto another menu to modify it per gear. I have it set to run 7 psi in 5th as well for daily driving. That function is the reason I got the thing.
