I don't know about any of you other turbo guys but when I'm by myself my car feels great, very peppy and breaks the tires loose under full boost. But whenever I have a passenger in the car it feels slow as balls. I mean yeah I know there's a weight difference but I just had a girl who was only 115lbs and my car felt like a snail still. It took a bit just to hit 80. Eh, maybe it's in my head...I don't know. :scratch

Because you're carrying around over 100lbs of weight you're not used to having. of course you're going to feel a performance hit. A lot of it is in your head, yes, but it DOES make a difference.

Ugh it feels stock again. I didn't think 115lbs would've made THAT much of a difference.

Having a 150lb passenger in my car made a 0.04 second difference in my 1/4 mile times, back to back with no changes in an ATX.

This is why I have never bothered to "lighten" my car. I dont need to shave my times badly enough to ditch all the 2lb plastic interior components and have my car looking like a honda.

Passengers WILL make a significant difference in handling and auto-X though.

So this guy is saying it's not making much of a difference with weight, yet I'm feeling like a 5 second difference when I'm driving with a passenger.

I very seriously doubt it is a 5 second difference. That is the part that is in your head.

Heh, yeah I was stretching that a bit but I think it's more than a .04 second difference like thedawg said. It just feels like a tank.

it feels fine with just one person, but when i've got more than 1 passenger its really noticeable

plus they whine about not having enough headroom in the back... :dark

i should just rip out my back seats completely

Could it have anything to do with tire pressure maybe? I haven't checked pressure in forever.

No, if you rode in it with me you'd understand. It just feels so sluggish. When I ride alone the wheels break loose at the top of first gear, I get mad torque steer and the car lunges forward. When someone is in the passenger seat my car just takes a dump and squats and when I floor it it'll feel like 60% throttle compared to when I'm alone.

an old rule of thumb is that for every 100lbs of weight savings you make, it can equate to 1/10th in the quarter mile under "ideal" conditions... this is used all day long when comparing titanium product to stainless.
