67828, Greddy type-s BOV Posted by taloniized, Mar-28-04 11:13 AM
Does it mount on the star kit piping without any modifications?

yes it does

Can anyone else second this answer. I'm wanting to buy the universal greddy type-s soon and hook it right up on my star kit piping.

i have it and it's a direct bolt on to the piping flange.

thanks. i haven't seen it in person, just picture. how come it looks like it has two vacuum ports? and is it loud?
|
67950, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by cseithel, Mar-30-04 06:50 AM
one of the ports is just a bleed valve of some sort, it is what gives it that signature high pitched blowoff sound
|
67951, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by brynden29, Mar-30-04 06:50 AM
Yes and yes. It directly bolts up, and you can make it loud.

Thanks guys.

I want it to be loud. How soft or hard do you have to have it at to be loud?
|
67973, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by eclipseman1999, Mar-30-04 11:36 AM
Tired of the turkey bov Paul?If you want it loud why not get the rfl? Does anyone have a wmv of the greddy bov on a eclipse?

I didn't want it to be annoying loud. I've always wanted to get the type-s. The hks wasn't bad, I just wanted the greddy.
|
67975, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by cseithel, Mar-30-04 11:37 AM
it pretty much already comes loud. the adjustment screw is for the spring tension for the valve. it doesn't really have "volume control" on it, but trust me it is plenty loud, but not annoying loud IMO.

It was the BOV of choice in Fast and the Furious. Most of the cars in the movie had soundtracks of it. My buddy vinh runs it in his Civic EX at 10 PSI and it sounds amazing.

67981, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by taloniized, Mar-30-04 12:06 PM
yeah, but can you rev it up and still blow-off?
|

Vinh's does, to some extent. It's not like Pika but still audible.
|
67983, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by cseithel, Mar-30-04 12:08 PM
yeah...i can at least, it sounds damn good. it's all because of that bleed valve too. you can't really hear the flutter (main valve) at all, just the high pitch blowoff that we all know and love. trust me man, you WON'T regret picking one up. it's so pimp

Depends on the turbo and amount of boost, sir. Not the car.

67984, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by taloniized, Mar-30-04 12:12 PM
I got one already and it's already installed. i've been playing around with it to blow-off at rev, but i can't do it. is it because the size of the turbo?

CSEITHEL--Is your BOV hooked directly to a vacuum source or is it t'd off?
|
67992, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by GorkoRacing, Mar-30-04 12:28 PM
There is a .mov file of it on my car at this website. I have the star stage 2 kit it mounts directly like stated above. This is only on 4psi tho it sounds a lot louder/nicer at 8-10 www.schoolsubjects.com/sti/video rightclick save as please and it is the one entitled anthony's rs-t at the airport or something like that And it is really hard to get the greddy type-s to blow off while just sitting at idle. You have to rev really high to about 6 to get it to do it.

That's the answer that I was looking for. (that sucks, i wish i could do that)

68004, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by taloniized, Mar-30-04 01:38 PM
I just drove around and it flutters then does the high pitch. Is that how it's suppose to be. i only got up to about 4-5psi.
|
68008, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by cseithel, Mar-30-04 02:13 PM
it is t'd off a vacuum line off my throttle body. with 10 psi you should definately blow off some noise, mine sounded good at 6 psi, now i am running 10 psi also, and it sounds REALLY good. Yes, i agree man, really clean lookin' car.
FAST W/ CLASS...

does yours flutter too
|
68010, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by cseithel, Mar-30-04 02:19 PM
yeah, but not that much, the high pitched whistle really overtakes the flutter sound, you are probably gonna get a flutter w/ any blowoff valve really...now you can probably try and minimize it by working with that adjustment screw and boosting more, but you are always gonna get that pigeon sound when you blowoff, say, 1-8 psi of boost.

68081, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by eclipseman1999, Mar-31-04 12:02 PM
Hey Paul you should go to siueclipse website because he has the same bov on his hahn kit and it goes off pretty loud just from reving.
|
68082, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by GhEttOrAiD, Mar-31-04 12:17 PM
i thought turbochargers needed to be under load to really build pressure?
I have to rev the shit out of my engine to get any cool bov sounds if I'm just sitting in neutral
|
68087, RE: Greddy type-s BOV Posted by GhEttOrAiD, Mar-31-04 01:42 PM
remember... greddy type s = you'll randomly spin out and yell DAMMIT
