6776, I have sort of a dilemma Posted by TJnolimits, Jun-25-01 01:21 PM
well this is my first post but i have read ALLOT... so here goes i own a 99 gs and i am seriously looking at upgrading it. the problem lies in the fact that it is an auto and i want a manuel, not that there is a better or worse that is just what i would prefer. anyway my car is only a year and a half from being paid off and it only has about 25000 miles on it... don't drive at school. so how difficult would it be to swap the auto for a manuel and about how much would it cost. i am trying to decide if it would be a better decision to sell it and try to find a gsx or just upgrade to a turbo and swap the tranny.. any help would be greatly appreciated...oh and i am sorry about the long post

1) I worked on a GST that had it done here. I don't remember the cost but to me it's not worth being without my car for months on end while waiting on nuts and bolts out of junk-yards. If you have a doner car the cost is different but labor is still a real treat. There are other ways to make auto trans get out of their own way. (2) KEEP THE CAR! You got a year left before she's yours. Why would you crawl back into the hole to buy a GSX? Getting it insured is a pain and the one's I rode in weren't that great. I feel my 97 RS with stage I and a bunch of mods could easily keep up.It's your money but that's my 2 cents.

You should call a couple transmission shops if you don't get any replies here. Make sure you contact a couple and ask how much it would cost. To me it would seem as simple as adapter plates but my knowlage like many others about trannys is limited.
