i got the hahns stage one kit with 1st gen intercooler. As of right now im putting the engine back together with je pistons and eagle rods (8.8.1 compression). The head and intake manifold are being ported and polished. im having trouble understanding the profec e-01. Is it a boost controller and the emanage fuel computer all in one. I want to run about 12 psi. im looking to get 275 horse and i think ill be happy with that. I wanted to also know peoples opinon on the cartech fpr.

cartech fpr, let's just say I am not a fan of it.

Are you running an emanage? The profec is a great boost controller. You just set it to auto mode, 12 psi, start boost around 9 psi and the gain to 10. It will auto learn the required duty cycle to reach 12 psi. If your using the emanage w/ larger injectors the profec is great.

After reading around a bit I'm getting the impression that the e-01 has no options for controlling fuel, but it works well with the eManage. I could be wrong but that's the picture I'm getting. As for the Cartech FPR, several of my friends around here are running HRC kits on built 420A's at 13, 18, and 32psi with the CartechFPR and no problems at all. The fact that these guys, and HRC, are all running the Cartech was enough to convince me to use it. It's really a personal preference I guess, the Cartech worked fine for me, I had no problems with it and I liked how easy it was to adjust the fuel pressure, other people prefer the VortechSFMU. Use whichever you think you'll be happier with..

the way i understood the description from greddy was that it was the emanage(fuel computer) and boost controller in one. Im trying to get a unit that will contol boost and fuel so i dont have to have a turbo timer then boost contoller and a fuel computer on my dash. i can just have two displays instead of three. I thought of going with an aem computer but i dont think they control boost and i dont have the money for that.

profec e-01 is a bosst controller and an "E-manage controller" it does not have any emanage functions built in, if you do connect it to the e-manage you can access all the tuning parameters of the emanage and edit them, but you have to have each unit the e-01 and the e-manage

Thanks you! Thats what i wanted to know. Instead of spending all that cash then ill think ill just save up for a standalone unit.

lol, oh man. standalone will be like 3x the expense of any of these units

um, how bout no scott. E-01 is round 400, emanage 300, software 75-100, extra sensors 100-150. for the money you have a boost controller, fuel computer and datalogger. not to bad. its by no means a standalone and we've seen issues w/ the timing control. id say your safe running 12psi w/ the emanange/e-01. at 12psi you DO NOT need a standalone, you don't need any timing control at 12psi. our ecu will advance/retard timing to safe levels that 12psi shouldn't worry about. good luck

i am running 18 psi with my emanage and e-01.

Has anyone seen the programming in the stock computer? How about reprogramming for NA? I have no clue how the 95 stock computer works but I do understand the GM computers pretty well. They will not advance timing any more than what is programmed in, aka, they don't go aggressive for you using premium. Depending on the knock sensor to retard timing is also a bad idea because it will take out more than it needs to as a safety precaution, and adds it slowly. I only bring it up because I don't know your computer. If anyone does know the stock computer, please correct me.

What are some good stand alone computers for this setup? I have seen the haltech E6K setup, but what about others? I always prefer a fully programmable setup over modifying input/output of the stock computer setup.
