67249, what is a normal EGT with probe in the downpipe?

I was woundering what my EGT should be? My egt probe is in the downpipe aprox 3in fron turbine outlet. I just putin my turbo and rebuilt the motor. I am curently running aprox 1200 but have drove car aprox 4 miles on new motor.

I'm not sure where my probe is, but I run about 1000-1150 driving around town, 1400 @ 65, and <1500 @ 75.

add 200 degrees and you'll get a good reading for tuning purposes. anything under 1600 is good. For round town driving I say 1200-1300 is good. Highway WOT shouldn't exceed 1550.

Well you should actually have your EGT gauge in one of the ports on your manifold, not the downpipe. By the time the exhaust gas has reached your probe it has expanded and cooled and will give you a 100-200 degree difference from the actual temperature. Just something to keep in mind when you're making long pulls.
