Ok so over winter I decided to install the Star Stage 2 turbo kit on my 98' eclipse and decided to use the Blitz supersound blow off valve. Well since its been nice out a couple times, I have been driving my car at low boost (2-3psi) just to break in the motor a little bit before I go up any higher. Well I am getting a real funny noise. Sometimes the turbo will spool up and sometimes it wont ... sometimes it will boost up and sometimes it will barely boost at all. There is this wierd noise, kind of sounds like something is flapping around or twirling in the air. I know what the turbo sounds like when it starts to spool up and this is a completely different noise than that! Some guy at a local shop told me to adjust the hex screw on the top of the blitz blow off valve because I could be getting compressor surge or something like that. Does anyone know what I should do or try? Its not leaking any VAC either because at idle, im reading like -16" or near there. Also, the BOV is connected directly to the back of the intake manifold as well. Please help. Has anyone else had this problem or something simular along these lines? Like I said, PLEASE HELP! How are you set at 2-3 PSI? Wastegate from star? is it set properly? If it's not that then you have a massive boost leak from either you BOV (which might be suspect due to odd noises) or a coupler on your IC/turbo plumping somewhere.

I am running 2-3psi because I dont have the boost controller hooked up ... just the hose from the side of wastegate labeled boost to the side of the turbo. I did not adjust anything on the wastegate, am I supposed to? Its the wastegate that came with the star kit (Turbonetics delta or something like that) ... I know all my couplings are tight to the intercooler, I have checked those numerous times. Thanks for replying - I need help asap on this!

the delta wastegate comes with a 5psi spring I believe...

Hey guys do you think it would be making this weird kind of like flap noise if the turbo wasnt getting enough oil? Like, maybe the oil pressure sending unit went bad or seomthing? I will take off the oil line and see if it pumps oil when the car is on ... but would it make this noise you think? What does anyone think is going on here? I am clueless on what to do ... also, my oil temp. gauge is reading that oiil is pretty damn hot as well ... maybe ill get an oil cooler to help that out. Thanks and please help me asap! Mike
