Posted by eclipticrider, Jun-23-01 03:46 PM
ok i'm i'm some what new to turbos, i understand how they work and all. what would i have to do to my car to be able to run a turbo. what kind of turbo should i buy. what kind of gauges would i have to buy. what other things should i buy(inter cooler, waste gate, bov)?? how easy is this to do, can i do it my self or should i have a pro do it for me. how much would it all cost for a good turbo( parts install if needed ect.) i've heard that our cars can handle 300 horses. but my car has 120k on it. so should i beef up my bottom end. what else should i beef up??

sorry i know that if i search the board i can find anything i want but i figured i'd start my own so that it would be more individuall.

i also asked the fellows in the nos forrum, a about a week ago, if it's safe to put put nos on a turbo. whats ya'll openion of the nos turbo subject.

You'll want to purchase a kit, a custom setup is simply too much trouble. Your current choices are the New Edge Racing kit, the Hahn Raccraft Kit, and the Star Kit.

All three have their advantages and disadvantages. I personally prefer the HRC kit because of the amount of research that went into it, and the phenominal technical support they provide. The HRC kit is also a very complete kit, aside from a few cheap parts (like colder spark plugs), although I don't have any experience with the completeness of the other two kits so I can't really speak about them.

I chose to have mine installed professionally by Passen Motorsports in Columbus, Ohio. They are the closest authorized HRC dealer/installer to me. Many on this board have installed their own kits though, and it can be done...just be well prepared for 2 days worth of hard work. And do ALOT of research here and elsewhere, most of us are very willing to answer any questions.

Also, If you install yourself be preparred to spend about $2700-$3000 total, and installation can range from $500 - obnoxious. Passen charged me a shit load, but I had them do several other things...before and after dyno runs, welding, tapping an EGT, and other stuff.

Hope this helps,
Later-
