67025, think im having some sort of fuel problem Posted by siueclipse, Mar-14-04 09:34 AM
ok this is odd...
its been getting worse as time goes on...
ok.. so.. i have a wideband setup hooked up solely to a wideband sensor in the exhaust. i also have the regular o2 sensor in the downpipe hooked to the ecu and to an apexi turbo timer (which reads wideband as well).
So.. basically, when i first start the car the apexi reads normal and damn close to the wideband. Then Ill start driving and the apexi will read 10 flat while the wideband will read normal like 14.5 or so..
Now, when the apexi is reading 10 flat, I can't get more than 40psi of fuel pressure. Whats happening is the ECU is seeing a massively rich condition from the o2 sensor, then its leaning me out which of course is bad bad bad.
I replaced the o2 sensor thinking that is bad, the new one is doing the same thing only more frequently. I even reset the ECU.
One of my buddies thinks that maybe an injector is staying open. I just put some seafome in the car to clean the fuel system. Could that have messed things up?
Anyone have any ideas?
thanx James

oh.. i think i should mention.. that if i do catch the apexi wideband displaying correctly, i can boost up to 19lbs without a problem and the fuel is correct.

a little more info, i just went to autozone and had them scan the car.
P040 EGR Circuit Flow Function: Ok well... I have removed all the EGR stuff.. so.. no big deal
PO113 IAT Sensor Circuit High Input. Don't know about this one. I replaced this sensor awhile back when I got this code, but the code didn't go away.
PO140 o2 Sensor No Activity (Bank 1 Sensor 2).. Ok.. if thats talking about the secondary o2 sensor.. well its not there anymore.. So again, no big deal.
Any clues?

sounds like you have a conflicting electronic problem somewhere in there....to much load on the 02 sensor wire to the ECU or something. how do you have the apexi turbo timer to see both wideband and oem 02 sensor voltages?
you should be able to boost as much as you want, whats your fuel pressure at WOT? _________ 96 talon esi-t san clemente, ca

the apexi has a switch so it will do the wideband calculations and read the narow band at the same time. fuel pressure under wot is 40psi and no higher if the o2 sensor problem is acting up.. its 55psi if the o2 stuff is acting like normal..
and no.. you can't just boost however much you want. if you have to understand that if your ecu is seeing a massively rich condition from your front o2 sensor, it will lean the system out no matter what your fuel pressure is. its called " ecu controls the injectors"

Is this happening just for a while after you start the car from cold? Or does this happen at any time after the engine is at operating temp???

any time after the car is warm

thats more than likely where your problem lies imo. to much current for the gauge of wire used, know what i mean? i'd say re-wire it.

ok well first off...if you were "massively rich" you'd be bucking like a slut more than likely, and probly throw a CEL for 'to rich' and certainly be puttin some black fireballs. and 2nd....is that what its called now? ecu controls the injectors? lol
its either the wiring, or one of your injectors.

I think that maybe it is an injector. Dude, all that and you have no code scanner? Not knocking on ya just found it odd.
Ok, when you use a cleaner, and you havnt in a while, it tends to loosen all that old stuff up. Im speaking from my personal experience. When I first bought the car that was one of the first things I did. following days she got worse and worse, even bucking and stalling once on me at a stop.

Check o2, MAP, TPS wiring and sensors. Sounds strange. Does it only happen after the car has warmed up?

the o2 sensors are fine. the map sensor.. well.. i dunno. the tps, i dont know.. it only happens after the car is warmed up (thats the only time i drive it, when its warm).
i really don't feel like changing sensors just to find the problem when the sensors might not be the problem

Have you tried disconnecting the Apexi? Do that and see what happens..it could be messing around with your o2 sensor. I'd check your intake temp sensor also, since it tripped a CEL.

The fact that it only happens after the car is up to temp makes it sound like your o2 sensor...

From my experience, the MAP sensor is most likely to cause these types of issues only after the car has warmed up. A good SAE-certified mechanic should be able to test that sensor for you. Just a shot in the dark.

im thinking its the seafome thats fuckin shit up. ill wait till my next tank of gas to see because this did start happening when i put that crap in, (come to think about it)
