well i caught these pistons at the last minute....im not sure what compression they are, but im hoping they're at least 8.8 or 9.0 at most....anyways, i didnt think they were high compression because aren't high compression usually domed? and they wouldnt be able to sit the way they are..... i got them for a good price, so i can always resell them.... im just hoping i got what i wanted...let me know what you think, thanks

Why don't you read the spec sheet that came with them, or failing that, scan it and post it here.

Why in the hell would anyone buy pistons not knowing what they're getting? That's insanity.

What does the top of the piston look like? Stock pistons (9.6:1 compression) are just slightly raised. My JE 8.6:1 pistons were slightly concave. You're not gonna know exactly by looking at it, but maybe get an idea.

hmmm...i guess i should of let you know that i got them on ebay...they're brand new, the kid just decided to not rebuild....i havent received them yet...just wondering what you think....i wouldnt think the high compression ones would be able to sit like that....thanks though

nevermind...i was just searching on dsmtuners, and came across someone selling je pistons...then he said he sold them on ebay...it was the same guy...he has a t3/t4 turbo setup so im willing to be they are low compression pistons...im a little happier now :)

gee alotta help there :rolleyes how about a top view pic, that's how we can determine what compression it is.

These are Jareds pistons...they are 8.8:1. you bought them for 330. after i offered him 350 for them....his loss. look in the for sale wanted section...there were posted for 400 in there.

Even if they are completely wrong, and won't go in right, you've got yourself some BAD-ASS ashtrays!!!!! :D

Based on the pin location, I'd say they are long rod/stroker pistons. Thats what mine look like. Howell only stocks them in 0.040 over. When you get them, look at the spec sheet or the side of the box. I can cross ref the part numbers with mine if you want. If they are long rod/stroker pistons, that limits your choice of rod.

I second the Howell comment... that ringland spacing and flat side looks like Jamesman's "Custom built by JE for Howell" 10.5 pistons. They may be low compression, who knows, but they're definitely not JE# 168612.

Yup, definitely not 168612, which is JE's low comp piston for our car. The 168612 have those grooves machined into the upper ring land and the second for heat dissipation. JE designed the 168612 piston for our car, those pistons look like they were made by JE to someone else's specs like Howell. I didn't notice the pin location until you called it out Corbin, it does look much higher than a standard non-stroked piston. either way, those are not standard 8.8:1 JE pistons.

Yea you got a point the wrinst pins are a tad higher....I couldnt see it at first had to really look. If they arer pistons for the long rod kit use em. Get the longer rods and do a full bottom end. That is the kit i want to get when i am ready.

He's a good guy you will get your pistons from him. I bought some z3 fenders dirt cheap from him off of ebay a year or so ago.
