im trying to setup my 14b and wanted to see some pictures if anyone has any.... im not sure if it would be best to clock the turbo and mess with the wastegate, or if theres a way of running the IC piping with the turbo stock...also, the wastegate actuator runs into the radiator fan, should i try to get a smaller one? is there a way around that.....any help is appreciated...i have a starion fmic im trying to match up to the 14b...thanks

You have 2 problems if the exhaust manifold is like most of the aftermarket 420a manifolds that point the outlet towards the front of the car. The first thing is the oil drain - it'll be sideways. The second thing is that the compressor outlet would point right at the block.

If you're using an exhaust manifold that points the outlet downward(like stock) then you really only have one problem as far as clocking is concerned - the compressor outlet will point towards the exhaust manifold(if the compressor is on the drivers side). There are other issues with that kind of manifold, like the A/C starts to get in the way of the downpipe.

I'm using a manifold that points forward and I've clocked my 14b. It's not installed yet, but its clocked and assembled. The first important step is to make sure the center section flows oil straight down. I've got my compressor outlet is pointing downish. You can point it any way you like, it doesn't really matter. Well, its best to have the shortest path to your IC...but the important thing with the compressor outlet is to make sure your IC piping will have clearance.

ok....umm, i have alain's manifold i believe...i bought it off of someone on this site and i believe its his.....anyways, it makes the 14b outlet point at the block like you said....now if i clock the turbo, im sure it will be easier, but then what about the wastegate actuator? i need to make a new bracket for it, and also, it hits the radiator fan...heres a picture...i have the radiator fan removed....give me some opinions and ideas...thanks...and also, if you have any pictures to share, please do so

he clocked both the cartride and compressor housing
he also did the spring mod on the actuator and put it in a place

that turbo and the t-25 are not the most 420a friendly turbos on the used market

What does clocked mean? :shrug

how the heck do you mount the wastegate actuator? i can clock it, but i dont know how to do that part....also, is he not water cooling his turbo? does he have the oem j part that comes off of the turbo... thanks, and if you could help me out with that actuator arm, i might be in business...thanks again for the help...if you can get the picture up, i would appreciate it...my sig pic is also from imagestation....how come everyone can see that one? thanks

he probably cut the original rod while leaving parts of it on both ends change the position of the actuator and put a new rod shaped like an L, either bolted on both ends or welded
not a big deal acutally
if you want to do a custom turbo system expect to have to hack parts together once in a while, a wastegate actuator doesn't need to be in a straight line as long as it can move easily

as for water lines you could put them but you could live without them too

clocking a turbo is playing with the center section and housing to give it the right orientation for you application

im installing a 14b in a week or so (waiting on intercooler pipes from jc whitney) I mounted my actuator a bit different than Gill. Yes you must rotate your housing, but you will want to determine where to rotate it to. And yes you must move the cartridge so the oil drain is pointing DOWN, if you don't you will fuck up your turbo and no one wants that. As far as the wastegate actuator I was able to move mine by using one of the stock bracket holes and rotating it about 150 deg(towards the down side) and using the good ol spring trick. Ill post some pic's as soon as I can. I have a freaking immagestation account and it has not been working. Acutaly if you want you can email me and I will send you a couple of pics. umm...i forget your name...but the person ^^^ that used the 14b i could use some help.... how and what did you use for the o2 sensor housing...did you cut the flange and weld your own downpipe? i was planning on using my greddy downpipe and just making the 2-3 foot section....do you have any pics of what you did close up...thanks and im sure ill have some other questions.... what intercooler are you using by the way..thanks
