he has a new VT engine sitting at his house. he doesnt want to put it in for fear that he will mess it up somehow. everyone that reads this send him a pm or IM him on aim and let him know that while yes it is a big deal, that you can do it. :-) (in those exact words if possible, just for the sake of pure ha ha) he just needs a push in the right direction. everyone should have the wonderful experience of installing their own engine. :thumbsup

cmon man, you can do it. Told I would help out if you are going to be down this way. I have my weekends off now so from after Friday at work till Sunday night im generally free (other than gf time). You can do it, and as above stated, just label all connections, bolts into ziplock bags with labels. just make sure you have enough time to do it.

he doesnt want to do it himself, but i am telling him that he should at least start it. he said something about someone helping him but didnt specify. i would plan to help him still, but i am encouraging him to do some of it by himself. :-) i dont want to burn any of his bridges by telling you that he doesnt want your help. haha(believe me, for now, he definetely still wants your help.)

oh man i learned soooo much when i did mine. i kept all the parts separated and organized, get a bunch of zip lock bags, as you take stuff off put the bolts in there and label the bag. it made things so easy when it came to putting it all back together.

i had a bunch of help from xtremers, but im sure it would be best if brad did most of the work himself. now that ive gone through it i would be more than comfortable doing it entirely myself next time :)

just kick him in the pants and tell him to do it :)

Well I'm 4 hours away from him, so it's not like I can stop over for a couple hours. I did his turbo kit last year in a weekend (at my house), and the plan was to to the motor the same way. I just can't take off work right now to do it. There's no burnt bridges here, I know he wants to get it done - and done soon, and I wish I could help him out but I can't right now. Not until the end of March, anyway.

if you still end up helping him around the end of March let me know and I may be able to come over and help, though I may be busy around that time. should be heading back up to vt to pick my engine up the last weekend there, as long as its ready by then.

I just recently had a conversation with him and am going to be doing my second install on mine.. (going 2.2l this time) I live 30 mins. west of Cleveland and may be able to come out and help.. but I say for the time being to get the hell on with your work!! ;)

Seriously, it's NOT hard. Get a torque wrench, read over the overhaul manual, get a motor stand and build it up then drop it in!!! Take your time and Build it up right, drive the silver bullet until your done! :7

yeah man go for it. i wasnt even smart enough to know i had an oil leak till it was too late. but building a new motor to drop in was a snap. plus its fuckin awesome!!! have fun with it
