(Well... Part... three? of my quest to figure out what the hell I bought a year ago... heheh)

I was just emailing solareclipse today, asking about how he removed EVAP system... somehow we got to talking about my car and how I don't have a Missing Link...

solar: It's a rats nest to be honest with you.... we have a diagram of it but we just said F*ck it and yanked it all out... Yes you get CEL's... but you can take the bulb out... are you running a turbo?? You may want to look into getting the missing link.

then

me: > Yeah I'm turbocharged... Always wondered what the missing link did... What exactly will it do for me? Could put the $70 to much better use several ways... heh

solar: the missing link tricks the map sensor into allowing boost... are you running a kit??? because if your not it would be almost near to impossible to boost without a missinglink or your ecu going into limp mode.

What's going on? To the best of my knowledge I have a Star stage1 kit. At one point I could have sworn I spotted a big blue disc-looking thing near my fuel tank) but I've never been able to find it since then. (havent really spend much time under my car other than for swapping fluids, and tahts near the front)

I have an HKS EVC4/SuperAFR... Could this explain why my ECU isn't "going into limp mode?" Or is it something else? Could I have a missing link and not know it? lol!

More likely you have a VC-1. it's an externally powered voltage clamp. Look for a small black box in the vicinity of the MAP sensor, with 4 wires going into it.

Does the MAP sit inside the throttle body or something?

It might also be by the ECU. I've always installed them by the MAP sensor myself.
