65709, Just bought HRC kit, need advise.

Well I bought a stage one kit and I'm having trouble deciding what to do now. While I install the kit I'm also puttin in a SPEC stage 3 clutch and a new mls head gasket. Now here is where I need some help, I will only have enough cash left to add either a fmic and piping and run 5-8 psi, or should I just add forged pistons and stay stage 1 for a while till I can save up more for the ic. I may or may not change my rods as don't plan on running more than 12 psi, and my car is for show and fun only. It's not a daily driver (I average 2500 to 3000 a year on it). I checked my compression and here are the #'s I got. #1:195, #2:185, #3:190, #4:195. I then added a cap full of oil to each cylinder and I got 215 across the board. The #'s aren't to bad considering I need a hg and have 80,614 miles on it. Another option I have is to just add new rings while I'm at it and then the intercooler. Tell me what you guys would do.

Thanks,
Chris

Get pistons... you can easilly add a FMIC at any time in the future, but its a little harder to add pistons... Plus you won;t see too much diff with a FMIC over a SMIC at 8 psi... get a used 1G DSM SMIC and put that bad boy on...

I have to third that. Get the engine squared away with pistons, rods, rings, ARP head studs and all that. You can always add upgraded turbo parts later, like FMIC and junk. Stage One will be a great way to break in a newly re-built engine too. Good Luck.

go ahead and build the motor. just don't boost over 4 or 5lbs. even a built block can still blow because of no fmic.

How much boost could I run on a side mount like a 1g or 2g?

If you're definitely doing the Headgasket (big job) then build your engine while you're at it.

IMO, the fuel components are 10x more important than the intercooling. Make sure you have a missing link, sfmu, accurate fuel gauge, and at least 310cc injectors before anything else. Probably want to add an EGT gauge to that list too.

I'd rather run 10psi non-intercooled on the components listed above ^^^ than 5psi on the HRC stage I kit.

Will I need a SAFC with the 310's and how much hp can they support.

No our ecu can idle those injectors just fine.
I agree with getting the pistons also.

hey man what have u been up to we need to get up for anouther meet sometime but sorry for off topic i would rebuild the whole bottom end if you are doing the head gasket that way u don't have to take it back apart but thats my2 cents
