A friend of mine with a WRX made a pretty cheap 2 stage boost controller. I thought this was pretty interesting, especially for FWD. You can set a low boost setting on one side, then flip a switch and get a higher boost setting. So say you're wastegate is set for 3psi, and an MBC set for 8psi. You take off, pull 3psi, then flip the switch and your boost will rise to 8psi. What I was wondering about is if this could be setup to work off of an RPM sensing switch of some sort? If so, you could have it power on at a set engine speed to change to a higher boost. If that is possible, you could set up two of them and have a three stage also. That is a good idea if you want to build the system from scratch. If you don't already have a boost controller, then you'd need to buy an MBC, the relay, vacuum hose & wiring; or, you can buy this kit: http://www.dejontool.com/DSM-MBC.htm

Thanks for the link, thats pretty cool. Since my shop has a Grainger account, I just may have to go make one of these up. Kinda like to have a pushbutton switch on the shifter though..may help at the track..I know launching at 13 psi with any kind of traction is next to impossible :)

You don't really need any special business account. You can merely set one up by going through the site. Make up your own business name or whatever if necessary.

I got my solenoid from MSC... cost me $15... a few pieces of vacum line later and I had my own dual stage boost controller.

In the off position it routes the signal straight to the wastegate, and in the on position it goes through the MBC first...

Set for 10 PSI off and 19 PSI on.

^^ I did the same thing. Used a solenoid off a 1g Talon (free), some vacuum hose, a Dejon Tool MBC, and a $2 switch from Autozone. Works great!

Got the valve today, and going to make the 2 stage controller :) I'm going to make anohter MBC so i have complete control of the low/high boost settings. Hopefully now, i can launch the hell out of the car at 5-6 psi without roasting the tires. Now comes the hard part...where to put the switch?? Since i yanked out my cruise control, i may integrate the wiring for the little lever on the steering wheel to activate my solenoid..
