6440, SAFC Woes...
Posted by DarkOne, Jun-18-01 03:47 PM
Just got done installing my SAFC (Thanx Shaun.. )

Turn the key on...

The buttons light up. No display. Bust out the manual, thinking there's something i have to do to get it to kick on. Nope. Shoulda come up when the key turned. Stared at it for a second... Think. Stick my nose right on top of it (looked goofy, i'm sure..) not really a burnt smell, just that warm electronics smell. Bad? I think so. F*ck.

Bad thing is, i bought it about three months ago from Titan motorsports in Florida (Miama, or ft. lauderdale, i think?). I don't know if i can do a return. $300 is a lot to have go down the drain if i can't swap it out. What can i do? Is there something i overlooked in the manual that i have to do to get the SAFC to turn on?

Someone help. My car is undriveable. it won't idle with the 440's and no AFC. i'm going to contact Titan about it tommorrow...

Let me know how Titan's customer service is... I just ordered my S-AFC through them.

But check your connections.. make sure they are wired into the right wires, and making good connection.

I went over my setup with Shaun @ New Edge (he has a 95 as well) and double checked all my connections after i did so. I think it's busted.

here's what i sent to Titan:

Greetings Mr. Nero:

My name is Dino Yancey. About three months ago, i purchased an A'pexi SAFC from you for your advertised price of $290. I just recently (tonight, in fact) installed it, as i was waiting for my injectors. I am having a problem with it. After the installation was complete and satisfactory(verified by Shaun Frank@ New Edge Racing) the SAFC screen will not illuminate, however the buttons appear to work just fine. I attribute it to a manufactured error, or an imperfect unit. I would like to return it, hopefully at no expense to yourself. A'pexi's manual calls for a return to the place of purchase. i should still be in your records for the purchase of this item, as it was done with a credit card. What is your policy on this? i would appreciate a quick reply, as my car is currently undriveable.

Thank you,
Dino Yancey

Great! Michael, sounds like these guys are good to thier customers. I wouldn't worry about buying from them.

For anyone in Florida, they have a full service shop in the Orlando area. They give tours. Give 'em a call and go see thier facilities!
