64395, need some advice on injector size with 2.4 motor . Posted by onebaddsm98, Feb-01-04 10:15 AM
I was wondering if u guys could help me out with this. Ok right now im running a 2.4 motor with 30lb injectors and a SFMU. I was thinking of buying 440's, but then I thought since I have a bigger motor maybe I should go with the 525's. My buddy mikeD says it won't idle but I just want some more opnions. BTW my 30lbs injectors doesn't get me past 6 pounds of boost. I want more BOOST!!!

You should be able to get plenty more boost out of the 30lb injects than 6 psi, unless you are running a very, very large turbo. I currenty run 12-13 psi on the 30 lb injects, with the S16G on the 2.0. That .4 litre won't make that big of a difference. Do you know what your fuel pressures are under boost/idle?? How is your SFMU setup?? Fuel pump??
You prob won't be able to run 525's, but possibly if you run very low idle fuel pressures, and use a SAFC to lean it out a lot..I personally wouldn't do that though..

well my fuel pressure im not sure cause i havent installed my gauge yet. I have a walbaro intank, and I have the second largest disk in the sfmu. my egt's skyrocket around 4-5 grand.

use the largest disk, silver spring and bleed valve setup with the sfmu. Adjust the idle screw until you hear the engine run smoothly. Defintely install a fp guage to see where your fuel is at.

well im running 440s, we should be able to push 18lbs of boost on those, without probs, and good tuning. might wanna go with a second inline fp
and what does 6lbs feel like on the 2.4? DWAYNE H 1996 eclipse under construction widebody eclipse, targa top, 19inch rollers, big brakes, 10 point custom cage, frank 2.4 hrc s20g turbo, custom marble paint job

so i guess i should go with the 440's then? I was wondering what bryden is running in his car? he must be running big injectors to hit 20 pounds daily. oh yeah 6 pounds is is nothing really. I guess im just used to it.

440cc will run 22lbs with enough line pressure so yes your 440cc will be fine. I'd upgrade your fuel system if it is basic right now. NO the 4/10 displacement isn't enough for the bigger 525 especially since it still runs from a modified Map off the smaller 2L engines of 235cc inj, but the engine CAN run them at -50 (AFC) and SFMU, I'm wondering though with you actually running the 2.4L why you're having trouble with 6 pounds on 30lbs inj :wary
