ok, whenever you two release the turbo kit, i will be in on the first group buy (assuming i can get a big enough loan) for a stage 1-C but i want the FMIC as well. im one of the huge group of people waiting for your kit and i think i may also be one of the huge group of people who dont want the spearco IC. i could be wrong but who knows. i want either the big greddy or the apex'i

so my question is this...you guys are offering all these options with your kit which is great, any BOV, any wastegate, dress-up and accessory options and everything...but are you offering an interchangeable FMIC option?

i want to get one of these two IC's and id like to get it as part of my kit and buy it from one of you as a stage two kit instead. can either of you offer other IC's for whatever additional cost they bring? i could easily go and buy the Apex'i from Hahn, which i was planning to do, but i have two problems...

1) the chances of the Upper IC pipe hahn sells with the IC fitting on the NER compressor when they were bent to fit on the 16G are probably slim to zero right?

and 2) i want a chrome UICP to go with the Chrome LICP that i will be ordered with the kit itself and hahn only sells powdercoated pipes (but they wont sell a pipe that will fit your compressor anyway, so it doesnt matter)

so can you guys do something about this? i would be willing to bet that there are at least 4 or 5 people just on this board who are not buying a stage two kit simply because they dont like the spearco IC. and i dont want to try and find a shop to bend a pipe for me, then have it sent off for chrome. (i dont live in cali you know)

im bored so i thought id post this if you were curious...i wish i knew what all this was gonna cost me, but this is the kit i will be ordering from you...

NER Stage 1C (stage 2C if you can get me the IC i want)
-polished compressor housing
-chrome pipes
-HKS SS BOV
-AutoMeter Ultra-Lite Boost gauge
-Apex'i FMIC (please!)

on second thought, i prefer the big GReddy to the Apex'i
i had my numbers confused on pricing, so i checked your site...am i reading this right...the apex is $1300 plus $224 just for the lower pipe? and the Greddy is only $1049, plus $249 for both pipes? well if thats the case ill be going with the Big Greddy. i take it as a good sign that you sell both these coolers on your site, so can i assume that you will be offering both of these (as well as the hahn and HKS IC's) as extra options with the new edge turbo kits? if you absolutely cannot package these coolers with the turbo kit, i will still plan to buy one from you anyway, especially if you are applying any 2gnt or other discounts to the IC as well. so worst case scenario i have to buy the FMIC seperately...what will i have to do. i buy the stage 1C, then i buy the big GReddy IC...but i still only see piping for the 4G63 eclipses...are you in the process of getting pipes to sell for us? sorry if im being a bother but these questions are irritating me to not know the answers and i really would like to get this all done in one big order from you and not have to go to a shop to get my pipes made. next time youre on AOL IM hit me up if i dont see you first, ThreeRedDiamonds is the SN

Hey..

Ok I did put some thought into this when I was first thinking of the kits here is the prob with "Other Brand name FMICs" The Aftermarket IC Like the Apexi and the Greddy will not work because the inlet and outlet are facing the pass side of the car. And you cannot just flip the FMIC because of the mounting brackets on it. I am sure there is a way to make it work but its way to much trouble due to the fact that the spearco FMIC that I had made is one of the best flowing FMICs ever. Here are some numbers.

NER Stage 2 FMIC Performance Intercooler - 1024 CFM

Star Stage 2 FMIC - 320 CFM

Apexi FMIC - 742 CFM

Greddy Big FMIC 863 CFM

Now I know that my FMIC is not the most pretty looking of the bunch but its performance is there. There are some pluses to this one like it does not cover the entire opening in the front of the car allowing air to flow to the radiator and in the engine bay there for keep the engine close to normal operating temps. So I started working with Spearco on an other FMIC that matches the Specs of the Greddy Big IC size wise. So far I have came out with 872 CFM Spearco is no where near done with this FMIC for me and we still have to work piping issues once I have a prototype in my hands (no idea when at this time)

Now the New FMIC I am working on is not to replace the one I have now for the kits its a option but fair warning its going to cost a little more because of extra piping and it has a longer core and end tanks other then top and bottom tanks.

You best bet is to go with the one we have right now.

NOTE: I have also started talking with them about a Liquid to air setup for the all out people :) but I am still brain storming that end of it.

Hope that helped you out

yeah i completely understand the performance facts, but with a car you can go show or go, take a look at mine and tell me which one you think i favor? the spearco in the NER kit is absolutely NOT an option for me.

all the pictures of the apex cooler i have seen have the inlets facing opposite sides, so one pipe could just be made to go back across the top of the cooler to the drivers side. on the GReddy, why couldnt i just mount it backwards and use longer screws and washers to utilize the front mounting tabs? if i switch the IC around, both pipes would face the drivers side, one problem solved. actually mounting the IC would be a very simple task i think. worst comes to worse all i would have to do is have a bracket welded on to mount it.

so i guess i will have to get my piping custom bent? there are no shops that sell Greddy FMIC piping for the 2gnt? this is a really confusing subject, does anyone see any ideas i am missing here as far as piping goes?

Hey..

Like I said I understand that and I am working on making a FMIC that performs good and looks good for the "show" people. Trust me if you put a FMIC like a greddy or Apexi for 4G63 mounting it is not an easy task. It is if you have a welder and some one who knows how to work it.

I can not offer those with the kits because if people start modding a FMIC other then the way it came there is no way I can warranty it.

That’s why I am working on a Spearco with the same fin design as the Apexi FMIC and the same size specs as the Greddy FMIC.

If you cannot wait for the "show" FMIC to be done you can upgrade later for the same price, as it would be if you just bought it with the kit.

Thanks

cool, thats exactly what i wanted anyway, cause i knew spearco made a core with the same fin design as apex's but i wasnt sure how to get one. so yeah i may end up getting yours as an upgrade cause i wanna get the stage one as soon as you get the first group buy going...any new guesses as to when it will be released? let us know if you got any new info on it.
any idea how much more this "show" IC will be?

damn the waiting...i want this kit now and for once i actually got the funds to get it.

must...stay...strong....not buying star...

well i was just looking at hahn's site and realized something...their lower IC pipe (confirm the lower pipe is the turbo pipe and the upper is the TB pipe, correct?)
anyway, the TB pipe would be the same of course, but the turbo pipe to the IC mounts to the compressor with a small 90-degree elbow. this means that if the placement of the compressor on the NER kit is anywhere even close to the hahn placement i could just use the hahn piping and a small elbow to connect the pipe to the turbo. so i could either buy the FMIC and pipes from them, or if you were selling it at a much cheaper price, i could buy it from you and use thier pipes.

thier compressor outlet sits almost the same distance from the head as any kit would and it sits behind the "2.0L 16VALVE" logo on the valve cover. so i can use another IC with your kit.

my last question...you are offering a 2GNT member discount on the turbo kit itself, what about on other turbo related parts like the IC? you said i cant use the greddy IC cause of the end tank location, but i will call hahn after i get my kit and see if they sell a greddy big IC kit for the 420A, i know they sell (or sold) the apex cooler, and now they have a new one that they sell, so maybe they can sell me a greddy with piping for my car (or at least the piping if i can get a good deal from you or soemone else on the core)

hehe, my last question for real...WHEN'S THE KIT COMING OUT?!

who else is planning to get in on the first NER buy, assuming it comes out in about a month or less?
