64103, Possible GB: 3" DP's for Star kit
Posted by Cereal5, Jan-25-04 07:35 PM
I'm kind of testing the waters on setting up a group buy for stainless 3" downpipes with the t3/t4 flange from the star kit. I'm having mine made this week on tuesday, so I'll have actual prototype pictures up ASAP. Cost is around 180 - 200 dollar range unless we get more then 10, then it starts to drop. Expect turn around time to be around 3 weeks. All are being done by ADFX racing, which is local for me. www.adfxracing.com

So what do you think boys? Any interest?

any possibility of a flex section or wastegate dump tube?

i don't have a star kit yet but i'm pretty set on getting one (sometime soon hopefully). for comparison's sake what kinda piping did the star kit come with again?

it's always nice to see someone makin cool stuff like this :thumbsup
the HRC downpipes sold quite well if i remember correctly. but then the HRC's downpipe is in a little more of replacement than STAR's... :P

It can incorporate whatever you want. I'm posting here to get more ideas and opinions on features that people would want. A dump tube definately would be a good idea, as the wastegate is pretty freakin noisy.

A flex section is a must.

I believe the star downpipe is like 2.25

figures...the one thing i wanted with my star kit from day 1(3" DP w/ dump tube) comes around AFTER i sell my kit...damnit..

ehh... sorry. Prototype should be done tomorrow. I guess we'll go from there.

This isn't so much of a group buy as more then a development thing. If the interest is there, we'll just make 10 of them off of the design, as apparently the shop likes to do everything in groups of 10. So even if only like 3 guys want this, it will happen.

The group buy comes into play if I can manage to sell more then 10, then we get a price break.

So if we don't make the 10 mark, expect to pay close to 200 for the "production" piece. Exact specs to come...

I was under the impression that was a decent price? I don't know... I guess I'll see what can be done about it. What do you guys think? Honestly. Please keep in mind that they have a business to run, not a charity.

I would say for a company's down pipe 180 would be a good price

Im in for one as long as I can get a piece to bolt up to my waste gate. I am sick of the external waste gate. It would need to be like a Y pipe I guess with a little flexsection to connect to the wg.

I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to include a dump tube, as long as you have the deltagate still

the deltagate and tial 38mm are interchangeable, right? i know the flanges are the same but are the dimensions between the inlet and outlet the same also? if that's the case then the dump tube should bolt up to either the delta or the tial... anyone know off hand?
64204, RE: Possible GB: 3

I'm not really sure. I do know that he is a dealer for tial, or at least has a bunch of tial products that he sells, so it wouldn't be hard to find out.

I just answer questions based off of my own knowledge. I'm supposed to meet with him tomorrow, weather permitting.

The suspense is killing me... Question though, if i get this 3" dp and I only have a 2.5" Termal exhaust, will it bolt up, or will I need an adapter, Ive been wonderin that and I dont really want to buy a whole new 3" exhaust, kinda broke on money...
64251, RE: Possible GB: 3
Posted by Kirby, Jan-29-04 06:56 AM
Yes It will still bolt up. The flanges have some room to make things work, plus there is a gasket there as well. I am very intrested in this product too so please keep us posted. I would also like to have the dump tube go back into the DP.

I am definately in for a downpipe w/ dump tube. $200 no prob. Also a flex section would be hot too. Let me know.

UGH... still waiting. Didn't get it done today. Trust me, the suspense is killing me too :thumbsup

For those with a 2.5", if you still have your cat, it won't be a problem. otherwise the you'll just have to buy an adapter to bump up to 3" i believe. Take it to any common exhaust shop, and they'll figure it out for you.

So far, the pipe includes: Dump tube with the Deltagate flange, 304 Stainless, Flex.

Plans are to hit the 200 dollar price, unless we can get more then 10, then it drops some.

Just to get it straight the dump tube for the delta gate does go into the exhaust right???? ALso This is mandrel bent??? If so, and the quality is good I am in...

Yes it is mandrel bent.

And once again, I'm still waiting. Like anything to do with cars... we always find ourselves waiting twice as long as we imagined we would. New ETA? Monday.

Although I visited it :)

And it's looking good. Mine is not including a flex section apparently, but it's on the to do list of the final product.

This thread is worthless without pics! Anyways, sounds like a good deal compared to Chillfactory's $300 downpipe.

I don't have the thing, so it would be slightly difficult to take pics of something I dont have. I visited, but didnt take the camera

I'm just waiting on the pictures. ADFX took them while it was off of the car, so I have to wait for them to email them to me.

Also... just for your information, ADFX had a hand in the car that's featured on this months cover of TURBO mag. It's a 980 hp Supra. Check it out, it's pretty cool.

I'm waiting too. I would like to get this DP if it becomes available, but now I am wondering how long it would take based on how long it's taking them to e-mail you a couple digital pictures.
