Ok so i'm installing my sfmu right now. I have a 97 fuel setup so the fuel pressure regulator is at the back. I dont have the fitting to connect to the hardline to run a softline to the universal fuel filter. My question is can i disconnect the stock fuel pressure regulator from the fuel filter and put a bolt in that hole and keep that stock fuel filter assembly? I'm kinda in a bind because im doing this in TN and i live in alabama so help would be greatly appreciated. I found a bolt from my old cat that would fit in the hole to plug where that fpr was. you guys think it'll work? TIA

You will not block anything, but you will be taking the stock fpr off. Learn the schematics of the stock fpr because all you're doing is replacing that with the sfmu. Sort of.

We went ahead and blocked it off with that cat bolt because i had to get back to town. It worked. So now i still have my stock fuel filter assembly except we took out the fpr and put that bolt in. It is leaking a little as the bolt was too long but I'll find a smaller one to plug that with and put an oring on it. It works tho.

Yes, we did have to block the hole the stock FPR came out of, otherwise there would have been about a half inch hole in the fuel line. That would make a pretty big leak. Also doing it this way, you don't have to use a unuversal fuel filter. Also to say that you're replcing the stock FPR is way oversimplifying it.

I'm running sfmu with my turbo kit, I don't remember blocking any lines nor do I have the stock fpr on there. But then again, I did this install about 2 years ago.

The setup before was fuel tank, hard line, banjo bolt to fuel filter, banjo bolt on a tee, one side going to the stock FPR with return line to the tank, and the other port on the tee going to the hard fuel line going to the fuel rail. When you remove the stock FPR and leave the stock fuel filter in place, you have a big hole the stock FPR just unscrewed from. It has to be plugged, otherwise all of your fuel is going to pour out of that hole. We didn't block any lines. The s-fmu is on the firewall in the engine bay. We ran a fuel line off the test port at the end of the rail to the s-fmu, then ran a return line from that back to the tank. By doing it this way you're still able to use the stock fuel filter instead of having to buy npt or -an fittings to hook onto the hard line and use a universal filter. It also keeps you from having to run a new fuel line. I may just not be explaining it clearly, and we didn't get any pictures while we were doing it. It works, and it seemed better to me than a universal filter and new plumbing.
