Ok I was drivin on the highway today, just boostin around town... When I went WOT the exhaust smoked like dark grey, and it smelt like absolute ass in my car... So I got home, opened the hood, and saw oil EVERYWHERE in the engine bay... I noticed that oil was everywhere on the hood, directly above the turbo... How am I supposed to tell if I blew my turbo... I did a compression test and got 195-210-210-210, and that was on a cold ass engine too, so I know the compression is fine... Im not sure where oil can possible explode from the turbo, so what am I supposed to look for when I took the turbo off, any advice? I dont know what to do know, thanks...

CHeck it for shaft play. Check your oil line. Check your PCV. Check your return line.

If you had blue smoke coming from under your hood then your turbo is gone. Atleast I think it was blue smoke that came from my buddys turbo . Also read about it . white smoke= blown head gasket
blue = turbo gone. black = i dont remember.

black is running rich.

I over tightend the oile feed line once and cracked the the fitting on the line which caused a leak before. I also blew a turbo before which caused a huge cloud of white smoke out of my exhaust but nothing in the engine bay. Like Dino said check the oile return to make sure the clamp is tight, check the fitting going into the turbo, and check the feed line for cracks where it would mate to the 90* out of the turbo.

I had the same problem with my turbo kit. If you had smoke coming out the exhaust it could be two things; One, your oil drain line isn't draining properly. The other thing could be that you have a bad seal in the turbo. Check to see if there are any extreme bends in the oil return line. If you boost and lots of smoke comes out after, it is most likely that you have a bad seal in the turbo and the only way to fix it would be to rebuild the turbo. With the oil under your hood you definitly want to make sure the oil feed line is tightened and you might want to think about replacing the "o" ring in the fitting. Piece of advice, dont boost if your car is smoking like that. I Busted my turbo completely beyond repair when i thought it was funny to leave people in clouds of smoke when they pissed me off but, now i need to spend $600 on a new turbo. By the way, what turbo do you have?

Check your intercooler pipes for oil. If there is oil present, and/or a lot of shaft play, then it is a safe bet that your turbo is kaput. There are a lot of places where oil can come from, though, so try to isolate the leak. Fill the sump with oil, as I am sure that you lost a fair amount, and start the car. Look for the stream of oil, and that's possibly what is leaking.

Check the oil cap, pcv. Have a catch can? Check the hose to it.

one problem I had was first off my oil feed line wasnt tight enough so that was leaking. Then I didnt tighten the oil pan good enough so it was leaking everywhere but the oil was only on the bottom of the engine compartment. So there is alot of places and things it can be. Good luck

Its cool now, but that is what the problem was... For some reason the bolts holds the drain pipe fitting onto the turbo housing itself came loose, causing a leak in the between the pipe and turbo, sprayin oil everywhere... Thanks for the help
