hey guys i just had a though. if you cermaic coat your maniforld/turbine housing will that affect your EGT's at all? like the ceramic coating keeps the heat from the turbo and mani from making the rest've the engine bay too hot but doesn't that mean that more heat is being kept in the manifold an stuff? just somethign i was thinking about... sorry if i'm way off on this - just started thermodyanmics this semester :P

Good question. I don't think it would affect EGT that much; it might help to hold the temp, but the increase temp would probably also help to accelerate flow. Plus, you'd probably have to have a pretty accurate and fast response probe to be able to tell.:shrug

it shouldn't matter The temp of the exhaust isn't gonna change enough to notice. The egt probe is measuring the gas temp not the mani temp. ceramic coating will just create less heat in the engine bay and shouldn't affect your egt. But i may be wrong:shrug

it would help keep the heat inside the mani and turbine where its needed. more ehat means the turbine will spin faster. just keeps the heat from escaping to the engine bay

in theory, EGT's would go "up" because instead of exhaust heat being transfered to the head/manifold before the probe, more of the heat would stay in the gases which would register a more accurate EGT reading.
