btw.. this was good old 93 octane... sorry im a little ticked. had high hopes because of the changes that were made to the tuned setup and they didn't work out to the "mathematical theory".. what is that anyway? i think its a bunch of bullshit.. lol

i tried going to your site first but that didnt work. so... what fuel setup do u have? u also have the s20g correct? 349whp is still really good though. keep on workin at it, youll get your 400whp. good job so far:thumbsup

gsturbo.com is down.. i haven't bothered to put it back up yet. i will eventually. im using the 20g.
----
Im not running the 8 injector setup. 440's with just an sfmu.
----
21lbs of boost on that run, i was making adjustments on the sfmu. all i did was lean it out some. i can't do anymore simply because of the 440's. ive been thinking abuot going to the 8 injector setup, but from what ive heard it costs a lot to build and i want to see what hrc has going for them.
----
im not running an afc or anything so im sure im still rich.
----
supposidly im losing whp because im ported and polished but dont have the cams to use that extra airflow. i think once i get cams ill see a vast improvement.

Stop babying it then. I just added another pound the other day to make it so I am running 28 psi on 91 Octane with no problems. Haven't been to the dyno yet but you can imagine. When its WOT in 4th gear at around 100mph the tires still spin. So its decent. So come atleast run 25 or 26 psi!

63366, RE: damnit 349whp... Posted by fly1, Jan-11-04 03:04 AM
I know you're disappointed, but still good numbers. If you're running the 20G, there's definitely more in it. Be patient and keep tuning, man. What's your fuel setup and boost level? Depending on what the wideband O2 shows, try 114 octane and up the boost to like 25psi. So, that makes two of us that will be tuning for 400 whp this season:thumbsup

63368, RE: damnit 349whp... Posted by Strauss, Jan-11-04 04:29 AM
I agree with fly1......mix in some race gas and try some more boost. If that don't help, open that damn bottle and go for it }( Oh, and good numbers by the way :thumbsup

your car is pretty sick but what was your setup. You don't have to give specific AFC settings(if that is what you use - but what do you use for fuel control) but you can definitely get more outta a 20G and tell us what you got I'm reading like 3 different things here.
I also think you can get more though I got 4HP more outta less than you're working with. I'd try some aqua mist}( compression bump, and more pressure. It's safe to say that we can do 25lbs with timing control on pump so I say you aren't doing one of these I mentioned. I think you can get close to 400whp on pump all turbo (LOL, as apposed to all motor and NO NOS!).
Anyway fill us in
EDIT: can you say tolulene

63382, RE: damnit 349whp... Posted by fly1, Jan-11-04 01:43 PM
Siueclipse, since you're using 440cc's, an S-FMU, and boosting 21psi, what was the wideband O2 showing? Others might disagree with me here, but I think the 440cc's are maxed out. 349 fwhp is nothing to sneeze at, and I think you'll see even more with bigger injectors:-)

yeah... 21 psi on a 20g wiht 440's and a S-FMU is kinda pushing it. sounds like it's time to upgrade to a serious fuel system (something along the lines of either adding 4 more injectors, e-manange, MS, or a DFI)
personally, i have a S-FMU and 415's, and when i approach 19 psi of boost i can't keep .94+ volts on the oxygen sensor. at that boost pressure fuel pressures are very high, around 110 psi of fuel.
IMO, the reason you are only getting ~350 WHP with that setup is because you still have stock cams. the stock cams were designed with emissions regulations in mind, to idle very nicely in stock trim at 800 rpm's, and for an engine that never went into boost generating only 140 BHP. on my setup, the stock cams seem to run out of sufficient lift and duration around 5000+ rpm's. once i decide on how i want to upgrade my fuel system (and pass emissions) i'm going to get some crower stage 3's or something excessively aggressive to open up the airflow through my ported cylinder head and make use of my new oversized valves. might as well do it once and do it right and go all out...

ok.. first off.. you people who are saying .95; whatever.. come on now. do yourself a favor and get a wideband setup. .95 is nothing but a narrow band calculation a wideband, furthernore, its not accurate!
wideband is 11.8
this setup is done. can't do anymore.

yeah yeah yeah i know, you're 100% right... i have an assembled DIY-WB sitting in my garage i just need to scrounge up a few bucks to buy one of those honda oxygen sensors, kind of hard to do right now still trying to recover the bank account which is quite depleted from Christmas...

Naw, there has to be something missing. Pushing 16 psi, What did you do to your head? Did you rebuild it at all? Did you oversize the valves? If not I would do that and put some monster cams in. I would also try and get more wieght off the crank. What ever you can, Might it be flywheel or w/e you can also knief edge the crank. Which will help.

63432, RE: damnit 349whp... Posted by TXTurboGS, Jan-12-04 10:26 AM
I got 299.6 WHP with the S16G(16psi), with 440cc injectors, emanage, and an fjo wideband o2 sensor. I was using the FMU, not the SFMU and I also have crane 16 cams. This leads me to believe that I would have well put around 310WHP. The tuners left my car running pig rich, with the wideband reading 10 all the time. Have in mind that the diaply cannot read 09 or 08. With your setup, it leads me to believe that my cars still has way more potential.
I am interested in what ring/disk combination you are using. BTW, my EGTs never go above 1200 F at WOT. Still man, those are good numbers, I am sure that with other cams you'll have the desired power.

WHat can I say. My car is a contradiction in many ways. I got some decent power running pig rich and my EGT's do not go above 1200 F.
The FJO wideband does not read below 10. You should really look into getting some better fuel management or even go with 500cc or something injectors for more power.

1200 sounds too good to be true at that boost level. even with an insanely rich mixture it should still go well into 1500.
is your EGT probe after the turbo?

really im going to have to see it to believe it. i can't believe your egt's are that low. pig rich should even give a higher temperature than normal. are you sure your egt gauge is working properly?

Bullshit.
HRC was saying this too. Technically sure maybe it can be considered knifedged but an actual crank knifing removes metal from the crank for one of two reasons or both.
1. To stop the crank from flinging around the oil into a cloud creating a lack of pressure (problem can obviously be helped by a baffle/windage tray or the shitty term the crank scrapper)
2. Reduce reciprocating mass in an effort to relieve the engine and aquire additional HP and MUCH quicker revving motor.
The reason the crank can be considered knifedged stock is the fact that it doesn't have the typical smooth curves of other standard cranks BUT a real knifedged 420a Crank can have anywhere between 10-15lbs of metal machined away. I've seen both methods. The lighter crank I would not say is a stout and I would use it for NA purposes only. Mike of RRE has pics of Eric R.'s knifedged crankshaft.
The knifeded crank is like lightening our flywheel times 2

Awesome numbers man. You'll hit 400, I'm sure. 21 psi on pump gas is only a dream for me still, as it is for many of us. Every time I drive my girlfriends WRX I want to beat the shit out of my car and run it off a cliff. Anywho, I really think the cams are going to do some real magic for you, and like you and others have said, you should start thinking about a more exotic fuel system. Congrats on great dyno's and a badass car. I'm gonna go stare at my engine with the valve cover off for a while and get depressed.

How hard is it to scan a dyno sheet at kinkos? Not to mention the fact that don't you sell computer hardware? hell take a digital picture of it and post that. You have digital photos and video of your car computer so why don't you take a video of the dyno run? I don't think people are being assholes if they are asking to see your dyno sheet. When someone posts up good hp numbers people want to see what the dyno sheet looks like thats all. If I were you I would not take what people say here as a reason to get defensive when you clearly have the dyno sheet. I would take it more as a compliment that people want to see the sheet.

...I'm justa playin' :+
I wasn't trying to be offensive with my post about the knifedge crank earlier I know people can't read emotions on the internet so I have to watch myself, sorry about that.
On another note, I think your accomplishments are quite impressive and it's badass to have made your ride, your pride and joy, into something fast and enjoyable, your ride is sick, keep up the work dude :thumbsup, BTW I think your injectors are just about maxed out. my line pressure was 100PSI at 90% duty cycle once I did some adjusting, and that is the danger zone(needs to be 80%max but you may already know that). Anyway I always hated hearing what other people told me to do with my ride (opinions are like assholes...you know the rest) so I mean this as only a suggestion. One more thing I've never tried it myself but the 550cc I have personally SEEN work on our cars with the AFC at -50% at 1000rpms. That could help if you aren't looking to go with anything too expensive in the fuel department.

|
63541, RE: Where is your dyno!! Posted by Mattchew, Jan-14-04 06:18 AM
You have to understand that some people might be skeptical about 350hp on pump gas. It's not that they don't believe you but they would like to have a referrence when someone else raises a BS flag. You have to remember that we drive the 420a so when someone makes enough power to brag about to a 4G63 or V-8 person they would like to have backup to prove it. I personally just wanted to see it just to see your curve. Just whenever you get time is cool, there is no hurry.
Also, Don't get so defensive were all friends here :)

63542, RE: Where is your dyno!! Posted by corsagsbo, Jan-14-04 06:48 AM
I'd personally like to see the graph with back to back runs.. consistancy of the curves over the revs and a/f readings tell a whole hell of allot as to what may be limiting your numbers. However, from what I hear we may have a nice remedy utilizing 500cc injectors soon.

I would think the pump gas would be the biggest limiting factor. Although that turbo is not really good for that much hp even with c16. I think Armond maxed his out at 400hp on race gas and that was at 29psi.

He's talkin about me. I never said I don't believe you, I just said post the dyno sheet. Relax. My car is making a lot of power too, I know it's possible, I don't have any reason to doubt you.
Gimme your address, I'll fedex you some xanax. :P :thumbsup

I've seen numbers in the upper 350's on a local neon with 94 in the tank. I'm sure a little more can be had with his set up. Granted, I usually run a little Sunoco "red" above 18psi.

Why is it so hard to believe. Just becasue your car doesn't dyno 350. Again if you do things right the first time instead of just buying bolt on crap and trusting it to do the job. Study up and do some of the equations that are given to you in books. I wasn't about to wait for some company to come out with a fuel system, we took facts and created our own fuel system. Where once again I am running 28psi on 91 octane with no problems and a good strong tune. I'm not going to claim any horsepower numbers because I havent been to the dyno yet. However I have raced a supercharged mustang that ran 12.3 at 113 and i pulled him pretty good and at the time I was only running 24psi. I thought this site was here to help each other out, not to brag about who's the best and if someone is better than someone else, then we won't believe them without proof. Instead why don't you ask him how he got 350HP and what you need to do to do the same. I believe him I just think that if he wants more HP, than turn the Boost up.

Exactly I never said I did not believe him. And I do know how he got to where he is because I have read his mods list. Honestly now that your have said that you ran 28psi I would not mind seeing your dyno sheet. Running that high of boost especially on our motors with 94 octane is insane. Maybe if you stopped kissing his ass long enough to read our posts you would realize that we all believe him we just want to see the dyno sheet to see where the stats are at when he is pulling that HP.
Sorry siueclipse, noone was doubting you I would just like to brag about the hp these cars are capable of. You have a really nice setup and lots of power. I just have a few friends who are giving me a bit of shit and I wanted to show them. Also trying to get an idea of where I'll be when I start building the car up next season. Sorry a few of the groupies turned this into a "proof" thread.

Well I know Dino's car is running pretty well right now with the Gen 6 DFI and 625 cc injectors. That could be a thought. Does VT make cams for yall yet? They made some cams for us that they put on a boosted 4.6 that netted an 86 rwhp gain. I imagine if they have some for yall they might do really well, enough possibly to push Crane around.

Crane makes cams for our cars but we wont see near the gains from cams that the 4.6 would. Still a nice power adder when your running out of options.

Yeah VT works with crane on thier custom work. No need for us to have custom high lift grinds unless the car is drag only.
Edit: Or if your name is Michael_97RS. :7

I'm running DSM 450CC injectors just fine off my stock ECU...
And I only need -12 adjustment on the SAFC at 1000 rpm.... and no it;s not set at -12 for the rest of the rpm band.... :nono

you are going to blow up your injector drivers in your ecu unless you have the resistor pack in place. do you?

Yupp, custom resistor packs... as far as the ewcu is concerned its driving regular 13 ohm saturated injectors... but they be 450cc peak and hold.... :thumbsup

Is there any way you can post your setup (2.0L block, right?)? I'm curious as to what all you have that's enabling you to make these numbers...
I would check your site, but like you already know, it's down :P
Thanks, Corey
