63255, After the rebuild etc... Posted by bonecupidboze, Jan-09-04 02:55 AM
After putting in the new Wiseco pistons and head gasket. I started up the car and could hear a ticking sound coming from just right under the valve cover on the left side of the oil cap so I thought that it could of been the lifters. Went out and bought a whole new set and put them all in but that didn't really solve the problem. It is not as loud as it use to be but, every time I start the car it keeps making the ticking noise until the car is warm up then it starts to quiet down. Once the vehicle is warm up if you gently rev the engine to about two thousand rpm,you can still hear the ticking sound. Have any of you guys experience this problem before? Will it effect the vehicles performance in the long run? How can I solve it? The car runs alright. I'm just not comfortable with that sound after putting in all that money. Other then all of the items that I listed above, the rest of the internals are still stock. Thanks for your time

what kind of oil filter are you using? i know that certain brands(ones without the bypass i believe) will cause your valves to tick. i know that the K&N ones will.
