62928, Need a List....
Posted by thegame, Jan-02-04 04:57 AM
Im trying to make a list of what all I have and what all Ill need to upgrade to stage 3 or 4. I just dropped off my bottom end at VT engineering to get re-built. So i have approx. 3-4 weeks to get the rest of whatever else Ill need. Here is a list of what I have so far (power wise).

VT 8.5.1 shortblock (in the works/being built)
hrc stage 2 (s16g) w/fmic
greddy type s bov
1 range colder plugs
8.5mm wires
missing link
vortech s-fmu
hrc inline pump
30lb/310cc injectors
gauges - vac/boost, volts, egt, fuel pressure, oil pressure (not hooked up), digital a/f, turbo timer
clutchmaster stage 4 clutch
phantom grip lsd
howell 55mm TB
2.5" DP and TP then 3" thermal back
turboxs HP mbc
ES motor mounts

Now... what else do I or should I buy for the install? Heres what Ive come up with so far (I probably dont need all of these, but point out what I should get)

oil and filter
antifreeze
tranny oil
oem headgasket
new timing belt and tensioner? (current one has about 25k on it)
valve cover gasket kit?
mopar lower gasket kit (do i need this? does this come with the VT block?)
additional fuel pump? (walbro 255)
bigger injectors? (390,415,440?)
any head/top end parts? (lifters, springs, cams, cam gears, etc.)
upgrade to s20g? (maybe in the future)
axles?
udp
160' thermostat
ignition coil

Any suggestions? See something I need but didnt list?

Looks good.

Don't think in terms of "stages." That's retarded. I have no idea what stage I'm in.

Once you engine is built, just think about ways to burn more fuel, with more compressed air, while at the same time understanding concerns related to the drivetrain/clutch's ability to hold the power and your tires ability to grip the road.

Use the SEARCH button to research this more fully.

you can keep your head stock, but if you plan to keep on going up poer wise, i would say at least get some crane or crower springs/ retainers. more of a safety factor there though. if you want ehadwork done get it otherwise you dont really need it.

get the block installed with the stock head. THen when you get more money get the head completely finished. Also get intake mani and 60mm tb. Then i would upgrade to 20g turbo and other things.

lifters, cams , cam gears????? With the power you will be putting out you might break axles..... Be ready to buy some of those..

Yeah, you don't necessarily want to have that "stage" mentality. Looks like you have most of the necessary components to build more power. You might want to consider bigger injectors and some form of fuel control, such as: E-Manage, 8-injector setup, Accel DFI Gen 7. You pretty much have all the components of HRC's "stage 4," except the DFI. Your fuel setup (fuel volume, pressure, and fuel control) will determine the amount of boost you'll be able to run.

Everything that you've listed pretty much covers all the parts that are needed for the buildup, but to address the fuel issue, what is your goal horsepower? If 300-400 fwhp is your goal, then I'd go with at least 625-700cc injectors and a Walbro or Supra TT intank fuel pump, and keep the inline; but then you'll need a piggyback fuel controller and a 1:1 fpr.

I dont know anything about the piggyback/standalone stuff.
