ok i searched a couple of pages but came up empty in terms of answering my question. i am considering a turbo kit and at the moment, leaning towards star. my question is, what needs to be replaced or added to the star kit to allow the full power to be obtained? i know a missing link and 3" exhaust are probably in that last but im a little shady as to what else would be needed. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Personally, I would not buy a star kit based on what I have read on this board. Lately peoeple have had a hard time getting complete kits. Buyer usually pays for everything, receive their kit piece by piece instead of all at once, and then can not get the rest of the parts. If I was about to spend $3,000 dollars on a kit, I definitely want no hassle and I want to get what I paid for. I would also like to know that I can buy a kit now and then be able to get replacement parts in the future as parts will fail (For example, try to get a Star downpipe replacement).

For these reasons, I purchased an HRC kit. For the majority of the kit, you receive quality pieces, on-time delivery, and no-hassle customer service. They are there when you call.

I picked up a most of a stage one from star off a 2gnt member i'm adding smfu along with what you mentioned. i've added greddy prof b, autometer egt,boost, and oil pressure, fmic, #30 injectors, walboro 255. the only other thing is i'm goin to see about adding a flex section in the dp and i think that should take care of everything. hope that helps out

from what ive heard, if you order the star from importparts.com then there is no problem with getting it all quickly and in one piece. i realize that hahn may be a little more reputable but i am a college student with a part time job so i dont feel like spending 3449 on the hahn kit and then having to spend another 1k or so replacing the parts in their kit. star isnt too bad from what ive heard and read. it may not be at the same level as hahn but it is not a bad kit. back to the original topic.

I have a STAR kit, and i made great wHP running 15psi with most out-of-the-box STAR kit parts - the FMU with a 3:1 disk, 440's, and an AFC. Everything else was just STAR stuff - manifold, turbo, IC pipes, FMIC, yadda yadda ya.

Nothing wrong with a STAR kit.

so after the star kit, its still a good idea to look into the vortech sfmu? what about the walbro? where did you order your kit from dino? also, what is with the e-trim and bb upgrades? i have no idea what these are and on the few sites ive seen that sell the star kits, they dont list these upgrades.

I didn't get the fmu with my kit so i figured if i was goin to spend the money i would just up grade and i'm not sure what fuel pump came with the star kit so and i knew i wasn't gettin one so i just got the walboro. some one was talkin about those upgrades and the bb was like a 500 dollar upgrade but i'm sure you could call overboost and get the upgrades and pricing.

well overboost doesnt list the upgrades, not that i saw anyway. im assuming bb=ball bearing? what comes in the bb and e-trim upgrades?

the the E-trim upgrade is no charge, and the BB turbo upgrade is like 500 or somthing, but from what i have heard BB is sweet. these upgrades only replace the turbo, nothing else.

does the bb upgrade enhance power that much? i would assume so but i am not familiar with it.

a ball bearing turbo will only enhance spool up time

some say it last longer some say they dont but if you do need to rebuild the turbo its definatly not as cheap as a normal turbo to rebuild..

The STAR kits is great if you ask me. My manifold is holding and eventhough I dont have a flex section it has not cracked on me...yet. Just get one welded in for 60 bucks, thats with the flex section and labor.

Lag is exagerated. But the added size makes it like butta on the highway. The STAR does come with a walbro intank 255LPH pump. An elextronic fuel cut defender and an fmu. the only thing I would recommend is like i said the flex section and if you want the Missing link. Other then that your set.

I do like the Star DP better then Hahns exvuse for one, Its a god damn 12" pipe bend with a flange...pls. Your gonna end up replacing it anyways.

As for customer support? Well if somethings missing I understand. As for installation instructions? The hardest part was the fuel, I agree I needed some help to double check My fmu set up. Other then that theres only one way things fit for the most part. If you cant do that then you shouldnt be boosting , but that IMO:P

As far as reliability goes... Everything is stock on 63k miles. 44K of those boosted. 5K on 5-6psi the rest on 9PSI, you be the judge.
