Hey guys. Well, I finally got my car today. They tuned it just fine with the S16G. Dyno numbers came good with race gas (100 octane I think) and 16psi at 299.6 WHP and 292.8 or torque. I cant wait to get my damn S20G like I first ordered!! You can view some pics of the dyno charts at this addy:

In TX, we get 91 octane at the most, which is good for 17 psi I think we no timing retard mechanism. The 100 octane was to be on the safe side. My AFR was 11.5 at WOT.

I ask this question, what is a good stand alone system that is not the Accel DFI?

Maybe in your part of TX. We get 93 here in Houston, and in every other Gulf Coast city i've been in.

Congrats on the good numbers!

those are some pretty good numbers. What other supporting mods do you have? I have 16 psi and it dosent feel like 16psi.

I can't remember the fuel pumps I have, but they are two. I have 440cc injectors managed by Greddy Emanage and profec boost controller. Vortech SFMU (the tuner changed my previous configuration). I also have an FJO wideband o2 sensor with the LED display.

Misc stuff includes a Blitz Turbo Timer, stop tech big brakes, clutchmaster stage 4 clutch and fidanza flywheel, driveshaft shop level 2 axles, quaife TBD, tein ss coilovers and some other stuff.

Those are terrific numbers at that level of boost. What a/f ratio did you set yourself at?

I need to get myself on a dyno with a wideband!:thumbsup

Those are some sweet numbers. I was at full DIS retard (15*) and was on 91 octane. I could have had more but my 440cc's were pretty much maxed out.

Good work man! I only made 265 fwhp at 16 psi. I was poorly tuned at the time but I plan on hitting the dyno again next week. What supporting mods you have?

You SURE thats not a S20G?? I have never seen anyone dyno, tuned, with that much WHP at 16 psi. I dynoed at 230HP at 13 psi, wasnt tuned the greatest, but not bad either...I'd say you have the S20G on there...you cant tell by how it looks either, because both turbos use the same parts really..they look identical on the outside..But regradless, great numbers!!!

Nop, they do not look the same on the outside. I used to think them same thing a couple of days ago until I had a S20G in one hand an a S16G on the other. The hot part of the turbo is the same, but the colder part isn't. The difference is very abvious if you have them both infront of you. I then saw the turbo in my car and there it is a damn f***** S16G. Why HRC sent it instead of the S16G, I dont know. I'll have to talk to them about that. Later all:cheers

No shit? Damn, then I really must be untuned!! haha..Do you run high compression pistons? Cams? Headwork? Any other engine mods??? Because those numbers at 16 psi on a S16G is DAMN impressive..Nice work :thumbsup I always thought the S20G just had a ported/clipped compressor housing and differnt wheels..interesting..i guess its just a larger compressor housing, not a ported one..

EDIT: Could be the S20G, the normal one, because there are several trim levels of the S20G. I think the higher up trims have larger comrpessor housings...hell i dont know..anyone know for sure??

He's right though, Matt. I've seen the Super20g and it is clearly different looking. The compressor side is very much larger in size.

The numbers at 16 psi are staggering unless I'm richer than crap. I mean, granted, making almost 20 lbs more torque than HP is a fair indication I'm rich, but even so, almost 300 hp at 16 psi is nice (assuming you're not overly lean).

I finally go to ride my car and damn the thing pulls!! The only thing I did not like is that I need to really step on it to make it run. How can I put it...hmmm. I can't just cruise on that car because it vibrates and I don't know how to describe it.

Something that also really bothers me is that it is running way rich!! It had half a tank of gas and yes I was stepping on it a bit but 1/4 of a tank just got zipped in about 15 miles!! WTF!

I also noticed that my idle fuel preassure sucks!! I am at 45psi with the 440cc injectors and I am going way over 100psi at WOT. I dont know what to say. I was under the impression that I should be at 20psi at idle and around 80 or 90 at WOT.

What do you guys think? The car is too rich and it is not streetable at all.

I have P&P head, 55mm TB, Crane 16 cams, 1mm oversize valves, Ti retainers and valvespings.

Over all I guess I could say I am a bit happy, but the car could sure use some more tunning at lower fuel preassures. I don't even know what ring/disk/spring combo I am using!

Anway, enough talk. I need to get this fixed ASAP. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Including telling me where to find a good shop with a dyno that can tune our engine near Houston/Dallas/Tucson. Do the guys at VT dyno tune cars for customers with poor tunning skills? hehe. Thanks :cheers

what type of fuel pressure reg are you using with those rc 440cc? 45psi at idle is way to much. you need to call the shop and ask what spring, disk, and ring combo they used. i dont even think the car would idle correct with 45psi of fp at idle...odd...

It idles just fine at around 800 to 1k revs. My EGT never seems to go above 1000 or 1100 F. It hesitates on acceleration and then when I step just a tiny bit more the turbo spools up just fine and I start spinning tire. The way it's tuned right now its hardly a daily driver and more like a race car.

I defenitly (sp) need to replace the DP and the whole crush bent exhaust system.

PLEASE!! Help me find a tunning shop with some experience on our engines!! I didn't spend that much money to have my car sitting there. The fuel economy is just terrible. I know some of you guys drive your car every day with similar setup and I want to be able to drive my car daily. HELP!;( :shrug

if you want fuel economy.. go buy a ugo.. heh.. seriously though, just dont mash the gas and you should get around stock economy.

not a t 45 psi of fuel press. with 440's that is pig rich. YOu really need to talk to who ever "tuned" your car and ask them what combination of rings and disk they used.
very good numbers man.

45 psi and 440s work just fine. Remember that all upgraded star guys with 440cc/min injectors that keep their vortech FMU will be running stock FP. Of course they need a fuel piggy back computer still though.

What exactly is your fuel setup? S-FMU, 440cc/min, what else?
62270, RE: 299.6 WHP at 16psi....dyno chart inside

Yup, its running very rich. The wideband o2 gague shows no less than 10.3 at every time. There must be something wrong with it but I doubt it.

I still don't know my complete fuel setup. They changed the fuel pumps and the ring/disk/spring combo on the sfmu.

What would happen if I constantly run that rich? I know my o2 sensor is going to die sooner, but what would happen to my engine?

Thanks:cheers

Its rare, but you can POP the engine from running to rich....it can cause afterburn, which causes high EGT's and Detonation. if you are THAT rich, and STILL made 299whp on a 16g at just 16psi...then i would either have their dyno checked for problems, or make sure they didnt tune you WAAAAY at WOT.

LOL! I doubt that they were jelous from me making a mere 300whp when they have a 800 whp supra, hehehe. I drove the car a little more today and I am getting the hang of it. I am not used to boost at all. So far I know I have a 255lph walbro intank fuel pump. I'll give you guys and update on the sfmu setting.

I am going to have to retune the car because I'm getting a S20G that I should have gotten in the first place instead of the S16G (thanks HRC). I'm thinking on going full standalone, but I better get used to how the car runs like this then maybe in 6 months I'll do all that.:thumbsup :cheers

You need to take a look at your fuel trims. My guess... -25 across the board.
