62124, Fuel Pressure Posted by gilee_8, Dec-12-03 05:46 PM
Hi, I been asking this questions awhile back. But today, I use the search and read alot of the old SFMU tuning post. And many people say different setup for my current mod.
My current Mod: SFMU, Walbro 255HP, 30lb injectors, boost 5.5PSI, with FMIC, Silver Spring & largest (3.72") disk in SFMU. My current Idle Fuel Pressure is 22-23PSI No Bleed value setup yet.
I just have a few questions: 1) When cold and warming up, my idle fuel pressure goes to ~27PSI but after warm up, the gauge reads ~22PSI. Is that normal? 2) Should I use 3.72" disk with silver disk? or should I use 2.92" (the 2nd largest) disk with ring and black spring? which is better? 3) When I boost to 5.5PSI, my fuel pressure is around ~65PSI but then if I WOT it (push it more) it stay at 5.5PSI but my fuel pressure jumps up to around 80-90PSI. Is that normal for no bleed value setup?
Thanks alot. Gil

i would use a smaller disk, the 2,75" one will work better. i ono about the fuel pressures. i'm haveing the same problem now too. i only have limited experance tunning cars. the idle fuel pressure sounds about right. i will be running mine at 21,22 pis, and i'm running 30#'s too
i will be trying to tune my car here in the next week. lata

22psi at idle and about 80psi at 10psi of boost.
why do you have 310's if you're only pushing 5psi....?
edit: without a bleed valve the fuel pressure rises to fast. you sir are running pig rich _________ 96 talon esi-t san clemente, ca

holy shit, no bleed valve with the 3.** disk? you must have fuel spraying out your exhaust!

So is it normal that idle fuel pressure is higher before warm up?
Originally posted by gilee_8 2) Should I use 3.72" disk with silver disk? or should I use 2.92" (the 2nd largest) disk with ring and black spring? which is better?
I use 30lb injectors for future upgrades after rebuilt. SO I should use the second largest disk 2.75" with largest ring and black spring. Correct? (with a bleed value?)

So Is this how the fuel system works normally? it goes higher as soon as I do WOT after I reach 5.5PSI - 6PSI...??
Thanks all
P.S. SO should I keep my current setup of: 1) 3.72" disk & silver spring with no bleed value? 2) 3.72" disk & silver spring but add a bleed value? 3) changinng to 2.75" disk, ring, & black spring with bleed value??
Thanks guys. Gil

Does anyone make a cheap kit of bleed value? THanks. Gil
So no need for ring and 2.75" disk?

Everything is perfectly normal. You're set up just fine. Thanks ;-)

Damnit Gil I sent you a link a long time ago in one of your several hundred threads about fuel systems. Me and DSMRoadster figured out everything you need to buy to cheaply make a good bleed valve. Search for it. Type "SFMU Bleed Valve" and find the one with me as the author.

LOL..I know I know. sorry guys..>I feel stupid ok. After all the engine rebuilt and turbo charging....I tell everyone how easy things are... but I just DON"T KNOW how the STUPID fuel system works. SORRY.. And yes...I made my own bleed value yesterday already. Thanks thou!
I hope I won't have to ask anymore fuel problem related issues later ok! Gil:thumbsup
