6142, 86,000 miles. Posted by z1pp0, Jun-10-01 10:08 PM
Hey whatsup? I havent posted much on here but i had a quick question. I have about $2200 saved up and i will soon have enough for a hahn stage 2 w/fmic. Before i go and spend my money, i was wondering how many miles people have put on their cars prior to turbo and how many miles they now have on their turboed 2g. I am not planning on building up the internals till for probably half a year and my car is getting pretty old. I guess i just want someone to tell me went turbo with a car with more miles, and they are fine. thanks in advance.

give your engine the ol' compression test and if it's good boost that biznatch! i got 78,000 on mine and i'm gonna get a compression test eventually and if all's good then turbo this fall/winter!

i had 76000 when i went turbo..and as long as you have taken care of your car over the years, it should be fine...but like he said, run a compression test just to make sure.

Go there and you can buy the gauge for around 20 bucks at an auto part store.

What a coincedence, I'm like 200 away from 86k. I did a compression test a while ago and go like 150-160 on each cylinder, but the engine runs smoothly and handles the boost fine. I talked to a Mitsu mechanic and said that that would be normal compression. 9.6:1 isn't really that higha ration i think. My auto teacher said that mine was fine. So I don't know how everyone else gets like 190+ here. As long as the number are pretty close to each other you should be fine. Heh don't forget to check your oil, that'll kill your turbo instantly! :(
