I dont now how to say this b/c this is not going on my car my buddy explained this too me. He has a 96 tsi with a 1g bov .. today he picked up his turbonetics raptor bov today had the flanges sized and all. He keeps saying that he does not know what to do with the pipe going from the air filter ,well the little section before the air filter.He says it hooked up to the 1g bov but it wont work with this bov... It may be a line or pipe or something... did not really understand. If anyone has had any experience with the turbonetics raptor bov plz tell me. thanks

What he's talking about is the return vent that goes from the BOV to the intake, after the MAF.
The BOV's on 4g63 cars are actually "Bypass valves"
They have to return the vented air back into the loop after the MAF, because the MAF has already measured the air... If you vent a 4g53 turbo car BOV to atmosphere you will run very rich for a short time after....

If he's using the stock mas air sensor then the car will run like sh*t with the cbv venting to the atmosphere. Unless he's running a ton of boost the 1g bov is fine.

Make sure your BOV is recirculated! When air is taken in through the air filter it is counted by the MAS sensor which determines how much fuel the engine needs based on the amount of air entering the engine. When you vent the BOV to the atmosphere air which has been counted by the MAS isn't really there! The car thinks it's getting more air than it really is therefore it adds more fuel causing the car to run rich. So for performance recirculate the BOV :thumbsup

Well about running alot of boost. Does running 18lbs going to be enough... and what do you mean by recirulate

cbv=compressor bypass valve The terms compressor bypass valve, recirulation valve, and blow off valve are usually used interchagebly even though they don't mean exactly the same thing. The 1g bovs ave usually good for at least 20 pounds and after that all you have to do is crush it to make it hold more.
