61171, is this Teflon paste ok? Posted by pn0ymahal, Nov-22-03 01:53 PM
i went to autozone and kragen both got some type of teflon paste, it says "Thread Sealent with Teflon" i think it said i can use it with mental pipe threads.. would this be cool for the T on the back of the block for my turbo feed line, block, and oil sensor on the back? just want to make sure thanks Michael 99gs HRC Stage IV 8-Injector Setup 2GNT Member #32

The point of teflon paste is that it does not dry. That way you dont get chunks of teflon tape or RTV in your fuel or oil lines, etc.

yea, but that one particular connection is prone to leak. even with paste.
and teflon tape would have similar problems as rtv. small particles breaking off and getting into the lines.

Thats wierd I've never heard of that. Maybe I should check out the back of my block. Just to be safe

Yeah, I have had leakage issues at the oil feed block. I have redone that with teflon paste like 4 times, and would still leak. Then I used Black RTV on the threads(dont load it up of course), and that worked wonders. Just dont go real heavy on it, and it will be fine.

dude....i've redone my damn sender like 4 times too, its such a bitch trying to get my arm in there between the axle and all that. what rtv did you use? the black high temp shit? i freakin drip oil from there and nothing seems to work :shrug
EDIT:
pn0ymahal-i've used the exact same stuff (the little white tube of teflon paste) on all my fuel lines and its never given me any problems, it works great...just coat make sure you dont get any on the holes before you connect them, in other words...coat the threads

i used the paste for most of the connections.. all ended up leaking a little. redid them w/ the tape and everything's fine.. dunno, if you make sure not to wrap the tape near the end of the threads, then you shouldn't have a problem w/ pieces breaking off into the lines.
