If you have a built motor installed in your eclipse, please post your EGTs at 65 mph on level land (no hills). I was cruising in my car at 65 mph and I am around 1375 which leads me to believe I need to richen the car up a bit.
My Setup:
8.8 : 1 JE Pistons / Eagle Rods 390cc Injectors 2.62 disk / Hard Spring Idle fuel pressure ~ 18 psi

Dude that sounds about right! Our cars are made to run hot so the cat will work better methinks.

you still have a cat?

^^^ Some people need to run a cat because of emission testing. I am redoing my exhaust and have to run a cat cause CT is going back to emission testing. I am suprised that Mass does not do that. Oh yeah my EGT's are about the same arround 1350-1400. Patrick 96 GS 14.14 @ 96.5 mph on 8psi 8 Nov.02 HRC kit, S20G, FMIC, Howell bottom end 8.6 pistons, S-FMU, Blitz BOV, P&P head, SS valves, lots more little goodies

Why my crusing temp is at around 1360 - 1420 (740C)???

because you need to tune your car.

Yep, about the same as mine too. If you do the EGR blockoff, then that also will lower your EGT's by 50-75 degrees..

Thank you for all the responses. I didn't seem to have as high of temperatures with my old stock motor. At 65 mph, the temperature was usually 1275 but like I've said with the new built motor the temperatures will hang around 1400 degrees which seemed a bit high to me but look to be what everyone is running.
I now have about 400 miles on my car and have begun to boost it on occassion. I have boosted the car at 5 psi in third gear till 4,500 rpms and the EGTs haven't really gone past 1400s (may have seen 1425). The air/fuel gauge is completed buried in the green so my fuel setup looks to be pretty close. Once the motor and clutch is completely broken in, I will begin to datalog to see where I am at.
Thanks for all the help, Kurt

I checked mine out again today, and at 65, my EGT's are around 1275 cruising(EGR blockoff is done on my car)

"I am suprised that Mass does not do that."
Mass does test emissions. In fact, we have the same exact test they have in CA. We just don't have as many stupid laws (almost though) and we get 94 octane at sunaco, 93 elsewhere.

The funny thing about this topic is that a few days after I posted it, I received a check engine light for "System too rich".
This is due to my fuel problems in previous threads where the hard return line in the tank sending unit became clogged with a piece of rubber from a fuel injection hose. It caused no fuel to return to the tank. I had insane fuel pressures and couldn't start the car. I know my pressures where over 160+ because it pegged the HRC fuel pressure gauge.
I believe these high pressures also messed up the fuel pressure test gauge. I set my fuel pressure to 17 psi by the gauge (390cc injectors) and about a week later I received a check engine light. I have now found a better way to set fuel pressure. I used the Pocketlogger software and let the car fully warm up. I then took readings on the STFT and LTFT. The car is now running at STFT of around -2 to 0 and a long term fuel trim of -15. This is the best my trims have looked. I was throwing a CEL due to the LTFT reaching -25. I checked the valued before I reset the CEL through the Palm Pilot.
I'll have to see what my temperatures look like now. I believe I was running hot due to all the extra fuel. I haven't had a chance to hit a highway with a 65mph zone. However, my temperatures look real good so far. 1225 @ 55 mph with the EGR system not removed and functioning.
Just thought I would share, as it was interesting to me. --Kurt

between 1436 and 1600 (letting off the throttle)or 780-880 in Celsius. It usually chills around 800 degrees C` on the expressway.
pretty sure I'm still running hella too rich, no kitty :P and 5-10psi non-intercooled (till I install that sidemount)

*Slightly off-topic but was mentioned*
How does Datalogging work?? What kind of hardware do you need and how much is it?
I do have a built motor but I don't have EGT, i only have Wideband O2, Boost, and oil pressure.

EGR SYSTEM:
It depends if your inspection station reads codes from the computer. From what I have read on the board, if you remove your EGR equipment you will get a check engine light for "Insufficient Flow". Obviously, you could remove the light and it would look like nothing is wrong to the inspection technician. However, if your inspection technician hooks up a computer to your OBDII and sees any codes you will fail. The EGR system is designed to lower NOx emissions which are checked at some inspection stations through the use of a exhaust sniffer.
I do know that you may be able to get away with unhooking your battery and going immediately to the test. There are certain conditions that have to be met for the ECU to perform an EGR test. I believe that the car has to be warmed up and the car is moving operating at partial throttle (does not test at idle or WOT). You may get lucky and the car may not perform the test while at the inspection station. This assumes that you could get around the sniffer test.
DATA LOGGING
Data logging is the ability to read data from the sensors on the car on either a laptop or palm pilot through the OBDII port under the dashboard. One company that produces software that works with our car through the use of a palm pilot (must be a specific model - these are posted on their site) is www.pocketlogger.com. This site supplies you with the software and OBDII cable to connect from your Palm Pilot to the OBDII port under your dashboard.
It allows you to read:
Vehicle Speed RPM Calculated Load Engine Temperature Coolant Temperature Intake Air Temperature Throttle Position MAP Sensor Values Short Term Fuel Trim Long Term Fuel Trim Timing O2 sensor voltage
In my opinion, a pocket logger should be a required tool when going to stage III boost levels with larger injectors. It allows you to tune your car according to the ECU readouts.
It also allows you to datalog a run. This could be anywhere from a few minutes of driving to a couple of hours of driving. It allows you to see how well the car is really running under boost (o2 sensor readouts).
Here is a link to a chart that was created from the pocket logging software. It is easier to see the power of pocket logging from the graphs it creates.
