60577, Having problems at 4-5k under boost
Posted by Snail_GS, Nov-12-03 08:01 AM
while driving when I get on it between 4-5rpm the car bogs/stutter but if I were to slowly go faster I get no problem but before and after the car pulls. Right now im running the car with just downpipe no cat back @ 5psi, vortech FMU and, with Hahn's Black box

I could really use anyones opinion on what could be wrong
Thanks

it could be the infamous black box. get the missing link to eliminate that possiblity.

make sure that your plugs are gapped appropriately.

Yeah, gap your plugs to .29-.32 and check your coil pack. Chances are its just that hahn black box. Mine only worked for about 2 days, is it doing it around 0-1 psi of boost? or only at that rpm?

they could be gapped .29, but NGK BE6blah's are new to me :o . be a little more specific and we might be able to tell you! i still say get rid of the black box of death and purchase the missing link :thumbsup .

No! The NGK BKR7e11's are not gapped properly for turbo. Always check your plug gap before installing them. Every bkr7e11 I have ever gotten was gapped to about .4.

So I just had a similar problem last week and it ended up being my coil pack. At about 12-14 psi the car would make a machine gun type noise, I figured the boost was blowing out my spark. Replaced the plugs and wires, it helped a little but not much, so i knew it was an ignition issue. I got the MSD Blaster coil replacement and the car is happy now.
