60513, About the SFMU Setup Posted by gilee_8, Nov-11-03 08:15 AM
Sup guys. My brand new SFMU just got here today from Vortech. OK...plese let me make this clear again.
Now my new setup: Walbro 255HP fuel pump 30lb Fuel Injectors Vortech SFMU
I will be running at 5PSI.
What should my idle & Static fuel pressure should be? Also what disk, ring, spring should I use.
Thanks alot! GIl
EDIT: BTW, when I measure the ring, should I measure the inside, or outside diameter? THanks.

You've been here long enough... why dont you do a search?
EDIT: I searched for 2 seconds and the first post I pulled up read 30lbers: idleing at 24psi fuel pressure and 60psi fuel pressure at WOT at 5psi.

Sup man. I konw I know...and I did search...but all I find is either 30lb at 10PSI boost, stock injector with 5 PSI, with with FMU, etc..
But anyhow..>GREAT news. I got myself a COMPLETE new fuel setup, new hoses, new 6-an fitting, new SFMU, new 30lb injectors..
And guys... I start my car today for about 20 second. LOL...haven't done the DOWNPIPE yet.
I tried...and I want to cry..so happy...it's at 30PSI with no vaccum on the SFMU...SO HAPPY..finally not 55PSI or 60PSI....OH MY GOD.... SO HAPPY!!!
OK ... now I hav eto make this clear. as ^^^ said above. 24PSI at idle. and 60PSI at WOT (under 5PSI boost)
But how bout Static Pressure?
Also, last time I test drove it, my car goes to 4PSI. but I have a FMIC... is that mean I am boosting higher?
WHat I want to konw is, our engine stock can't go over 9PSI, so if I am going 4PSI now, am I still have 5 more to go? or do I look at the PSI before the intercooler?
THanks! Gil
P.S. Can't wait, tomtoorw will be sunny, so I will weld my DP to my exhaust...and I AM FINALLY DONE!!!! COMPLETELY!

You are seeing 4psi because you get ~1 psi drop from a fmic. You are really boosting 4psi. The Wastegate on the other hand thinks that you are boosting 5psi. This is becaues of the pressure loss of the fmic. If you re-route the wastegate vac line to the mani. This should solve the problem. Becuase your wastegate will not see the pressure drop from the fmic.
Sorry I cant help with the other questions.

30 # injectors at 21 psi of fuel at idle. Static doesn't really matter, the disc chooses static if you set idle, or vise versa. Get a boost controller to compensate for that FMIC, and turn it up a little, or do what he said if 5 psi is enough for you. (it's not for me)

yeah....4 PSI is fine for me right now. And I modified the wastegate to 4PSI...stock is 10PSI...so if I want, I just turn the screw and I can go up and down..and Minimun is 4PSI.
Anyway, I need to know about the tuning of the SMFU, coz I will drive my car TOMORROW!!! cAn't wait.... I just have to finish the DP tomorrow. (Weld it to the exhaust)
THANKS ALOT EVERYONE! GIl

Hehe, don't expect much out of 4 psi.

THanks for backing me up! Etx.
Yes....after I finished the DP, and the fuel system, I will set it to 6PSI, or 7PSI.
So, can some people answer some of the questions above? THanks. GIl

Yea..most of my questions... but two more..... what disk and ring should I use? and for the ring size.....is it the outter diameter? or inner diameter?
THanks again. Gil

Use the biggest SFMU disc. It does not use a ring. If you get stuttering in boost, you will need to set up a bleed valve.

Thnks alot.. I did thought about a bleed valve.. but can I just use the screw on the SFMU (at the bleed value) and adjust it from that screw??? Thanks. GIl
