okay if you read my thread in the advance section about the equal length mani i have a few opinions for whoever replied
i know its been a while since i posted it but motofool was talking about adibiatic pressure and not prove him wrong but unless his log manifold was flow tested you will not beat an equal length mani
the reason to this is because i have tested both a equal lenght and a log and i have found that the log manifold does create some back pressure which gives the turbine insufficent flow. where as the equal length spooled the turbine much fast with less boost spikes
i believe that hahn and star both have flow tested there manis which make them very sufficent but from my experience the mani that my friend bought for his project turbo (log) was less efficent then the one i made for him (equal length) might be different on the 420a but i do not have the funds to buy a log mani just for testing purposes

Technical terminology and flowbenching aside, we've had problems with all the equal-length-runner manifolds cracking due to the weight of the turbo and insufficient mounting reinforcement.
The log style simply lasts longer because we can use the factory manifold support bracket, there is less metal expanding and contracting, and fewer welds.

fewer welds? the manis i made were just single pipes that were had mandrel bends into a collector and as far as durabilty i used 16gauge mild steel pipes and they seem to be holding a t3/t04e pretty well

How long have these manifolds been in use?
The NER manifolds seem to last about 8 months in daily use before they cracked. :shrug
Not bashing the equal-length idea, just noting my observations.

eh hem... try 4months x( but with proper bracing and support for the weight.. i am fairly sure that the equal-length manis would work fine.. hopefully i will find out soon enough

the manifold iw as speaking of when it alked about it is a directional style manifold not a log
this manifold made 25whp more then the equal length because the air didn't have to go through as much piping as a true equal length...

please refer to your post in the advance section you are contradicting what you said in the advanced section and this is the only reason why i did so much research because i wanted to see if my theory was right

im not sure which post your refering to.
the log manifold should have sufficient flow to make 400hp cause tis been done..
yes it will create back pressure..
an equal length for the exhaust pulses is the best theoretical idea.. in application the directional or shortest route full runner designs have proved superior as they flow better and spool faster...
this is direct relation to the faster the air gets to the turbine the less speed it will lose in the manifold therefore spin the turbo faster..
the less restrictive shortest route is the best way to design a manifold.

i actually own this mani..its like woe...its nice, definately added some spoolage to my t3/t4..kinda a pain for filament, you need a good welder , slim line fans and that wastegate neck really close to the collector on one cyl 1 to work correctly, i ending up having mine moved to cyl 4 and it dumps down below my tranny

no im talking in the advance section you told me that because of adibiatic pressure a log manifold is better so i just had to do some research for myself and i came to this conclusion which was my theory in the first place sorry not trying to prove you wrong just wanted to come to a final conclusion
