60404, to those who run 30#'s...yes I searched Posted by Erik, Nov-09-03 04:56 PM
I'm on Star stage I w/ a 1g sidemount. I'm gonna put in my P&P intake soon and I still have my 30#'s sitting on the shelf. My stock injectors have over 80K and are probably tired. Which disk do I use for the Vortech FMU? Has anybody come up with a way of adjusting FP in conjunction with the regular FMU? (there was some talk about using a Adj. regulator, but nobody thought it would work) I would really like to get these injectors in w/o buying a SFMU b/c I really can't afford one right now and running the 255 Walbro w/ the stock injectors under boost probably is not a very good idea. I also do NOT have a S-AFC and have no plans on buying one. Give her hell:thumbsup

I don't think anyone ever figured out how to lower fuel pressure using the stock FPR in conjunction with anything else. If you want to run those 315's, you're probably gonna need a SFMU. Sorry.

I have a Mallory FPR in the engine comp. and took the stock fpr out and pluged the hole with a 12x1.25( i think that is the size it was) oil drain plug. I ran a #4 a/n fitting off the fuel rail for a return line into my fmu. Works great

Draw me a picture of your setup if you could. There was long talk about a similiar set-up that took place a while ago. Thanks. **NOTE** I'll probably try to save for the SFMU, but college tuition is coming around again. I can get adj. regulators pretty cheap (like almost free) from one of the domestic guys out here if what you are doing will work for me.

Has anyone actually tried to run teh 30# injectors with any success rate with teh SFMU? I would think that they are not that much bigger than stock 235 units? I would kike to know, I am about to buy some and cant afford a SFMU or SAFC.

I am running 30# (315cc) injectors with the SFMU, no SAFC. Biggest Disc, Bleed Valve, Idle FP at 21 psi. Runs pretty good.

Well, you absolutely need a rising rate FPR to use 30#/310cc injectors. You can use the Craptech or the SFMU or whatever quality riser you want, but you need one.
30# will run fine with no SAFC.

I already have my vortech FMU from the Star kit. I just want to know if the ECU can give me an idle and not take forever to start the car if I switch disks to like an 8:1 with the 30lb injectors and run 7psi?

It's possible, but it won't run very well.

Oh well.:shrug I kinda had my hopes up since I knew the ECU "could" set fuel maps to control 440's. I believe Murix tried it out first. Guess I know what I'm asking for X-mas now! :thumbsup
