60165, Fuel Line Fitting for the SFMU
Posted by gilee_8, Nov-04-03 03:01 PM
Sup guys.
I ordered a brand new SFMU DIRECTLY from Vortech already.
And I am am re-doing all the fuel lines again.
I guess Bill will not going to give me another SFMU until like 2 years later...so I will just buy one and deal with the extra SFMU later...SHIT....

OK... I need to know this.
Where do you guys get the -AN fitting for the SFMU?
I mean, the yare 6-AN fitting right? for the return and feel fuel line?

Where you guys get those line and connect them to the fuel rail and the return fuel line?
Thanks.

Can you guys tell me where online you can get them or local store or where ever you guys got them!

THanks.
Gil

Your right, they are -6an. I got ss line made with -6an fittings at a local company. The line was like ~40$. Look for a hose company in your area.

Where are the AN fittings off of your "old" SFMU? Why redo the fuel lines? Stock lines are already there...you being a 95, you are all set fuel line wise..Or did you already sell your old, defective sfmu with the fittings on it?

na....
See... I still have my SFMU right now.
But the thing is.
When I was using my old SFMU, I never got the AN fitting.
I buy some fitting nut and use glue to hold them.
So they are not like perfect fit and just screw on.

So now that I am getting another SFMU (shit I hate this)
So I figure I should spend the time to ask you guys so I can get everything perfect (THE SECOND TIME)

THanks.
so where you got them?

Find a local hose supply store. I bought some here in knoxville for my nitrous. Got 3 4ft. -an lines with npt adapters for like $45 then went back and got 2 more fittings for a dollar. it's ss but don't have fancy blue and red ends.

You're kidding right?! You don't have proper fittings on your SFMU and you are actually driving the car ... how is it not spilling oil all over the place. You know this could be why you can't drop your fuel pressure (glue in the fuel outlet).

yeah, seriously man. Please tell us you did not glue the lines to the SFMU. :wary

When I had a sfmu this is how I hooked it up. I used a 6AN fitting, the compression one that you use to make the SS lines. I took the compression fitting off and just stuck the return line on there and clamped it down. This is not a high pressure line, so it works fine. Then I used a 6AN coupler to a test port fitting to goto my fuel pressure gauge, then a 6 to 4 reducer to an autometer premade SS 4an line that goes to the fuel rail.

I sold my SFMU, but kept the fittings because they are so damn expensive. Ill sell them to you if you want them, it should be everything you need to hook it up right. let me know if you want them. They are all blue/red aeromotive fittings.

Here's my fuel system. This is for a 96+ car, and you are also using the stock fuel rail, so yours will be different, this is just to illustrate the connections of stainless steel braided hoses to the SFMU inlet and outlet. Not sure if you knew, but the bottom port on the SFMU is the return and they are different.

LOL.....the way you said it is VERY FUNNY.
Well, seriously, now that I am getting a BRAND NEW SFMU (ordered already) (I can't wait for Bill, it's oging to take him FOREVER to give me another "working" one)

So I do'nt have to take anything off, coz I will get a NEW SFMU.

Well, Eclipse2NR, I don't get one thing is, How you connecting that line you have in the picture to the STOCK fuel line? the one you have have to screw in, and the stock is just a open end hose???

BTW, wehre you got those 6-AN fitting hose then?
Thanks.

Gil,

I am not using any of the factory fuel lines. Those aluminum hardlines connect to a small length of rubber hose near the tank. Here's a pic.

Aeroquip will have all the AN fittings you need. otherwise you will have to go to a race car shop or a shop in your area that works with hoses for different applications. not just any car store will have AN fittings.
