59839, HELP!!! i wanna go to the socal meet tomorrow but ISSUES

havin some issues, any hep much appreciated.

my car is bucking when i go into boost, all the lights light up and it feels like the car dies but saves it self, no CEL's. im thinking maybe the relay wires are messed up and the fuel pump isnt getting enough voltage? battery voltage is sitting at about 14.2 when the motor is on, fine there. fuel pressure at idle is 48 and static fuel pressure at about 5psi is 80 or so, so fine there. maybe my FCD? so i checked the wires that splice to the map sensor and redid em. go for a drive, 1st gear pulls fuckin hard to 5800, shift to second...as soon as i boost, car starts bucking...same thing. so what the heck? could it maybe be my map sensor? it just cuts fuel in boost at random. today it was also dying when i was first started driving like at a redlight, like cutting fuel or something. it wouldnt DIE, but it would jerk and all the lights would turn on. also my subs just randomn;y stopped working. so i was like AH! and i needed gas...so i put 5 bucks in, car started boosting great again, subs work... :wary..yea thats what i said. my friends like dude what the fuck is wrong with your car today, i dunno man....so yea, any help on the fuel cut shit would be MUCHHHHHHH appreciated, and please dont post some dumb reply...i really do need help.

HELP! this fuckin sucks, the socal meet is tomorrow, its 1am....and im tired, and i cant boost :( tia

edit: ok i was just thinking....i installed a fuel pressure gauge from defi today and was wondering if where i put it would matter any. i also adjusted my fuel pressures so maybe thats why the fuel is havin issues. the line that comes off the fuel rail to the fuel reg goes to the in on the reg, i have that barbed to the fp gauge. is that right? im supposed to know the pressure of the fp on the rail side, not the reurn side right? because if i had 80 or so psi static pressure on the return line, i'd be running rich as fuck....so maybe thats why so many fuel probs......i dunno..just thinking

Your right...it sounds like a fuel cut problem. But if your subs a re messing up at the same time that sound electrical. I would first shut your whole system down and take out for a drive and see if that helps. If it does or doesn't the next thing I would do is check the ground conections to make sure they are all in good shape. After that I would make sure your fuel pressures are corect...and your right about the fuel gauge having to be between the rail and the FPR that's where I have mine. Good luck on getting your car going man.

What injectors do you have? Those idle/static/5psi fuel pressures sound pretty damn high. IIRC, you should have 43 psi static (this is 0psi boost) on stock injectors (with the vacuum line disconnected from FMU). It will drop back down to 30ish when you reconnect the vacuum line at idle. All these numbers will be lower for larger injectors. That's probably your fuel cut problem.

You also have an electrical problem, disconnect your fuel sender and everything else you just installed. Remove the grounds and everything. The sender can stay, but remove all the wires. Also pull the fuse on your audio system.

Is your FCD *SOLDERED* in? It has to be no matter what.

Check your EGR tube (right side of head, just below upper IC pipe) and all the wires around it. I had an intermittant bucking when my EGR solenoid wire was melted and shorting to the EGR pipe.

Like mentioned ^^, check your ground wires, and all sensor wires that may be shorting to the block.

I find life much easier if I only make one change to the car a day. Makes troubleshooting simpler.

My car did the same thing...till I got the Missing Link. If you don't have one get it now. I don't know why your stereo would do that though :shrug

theres no way im disonnecting all that crap. gauge works fine so i dont think its that. i fixed my subs, that was cake. i guess if the amp flips upside down for any reason it kills itself. so thats what happened with that. but yea its definately fuel cut (its just at random thats all) i think my FCD just went bad or something, what a bust :( im gunna go re-do all the wiring for it, i'll keep u guys posted. socal guys anyone have a FCD or a missing link i can try out?

thanks for the responses! keep em coming

Some cars (especially 95's) seem to work fine without a FCD at lower boost levels.

The HRC FCD has a habit of going bad, especially due to moisture. They will replace it for free under warranty, some people have been through 3 or 4 of them.

Definitely get a Missing link though, ditch the FCD.

You can buy my ML at the meet if you want since my car's down, but I want full retail so I can replace it later. Let me know and I'll look through the pile that used to be my 420a. One of the ML distributors is in Lake Forest, you could drive out there too.

fuck yea, got it all worked out :) im in need of a missing link though but for now, the modified FCD will work ;) just took her for a drive, no fuel cut. strong boost all the way to redline.

fuckin dsm's :rolleyes, i just redid ALL the wiring for the pump, relay, FCD (cut the wires way shorter)

i think what happened was the sending unit i installed for the electronic gauge was chillin against one of my FCD wires, fuel gets hot as fuck and the sending unit is steel...so i figured it might have melted the wire or something, so i chopped it short and spliced it back in.

thanks much for the help!!!! i think thats a newww record for time down on my car :)
