Well I got a fatty commission check and bonus this month so I can finally get a SFMU, Walboro 255 and 30# injectors. Can anyone recommend a shop in the Milwaukee/Chicago area where I can get these installed. Once this is done, it's time for me to shop for a new block to rebuild :D

I called around local shops and do not one any of these deeks installing my stuff. Most of them I have to buy the parts there to have them install it, and none of them carried Vortech. F-That!

I live in Green Bay, I'll help you put this stuff on for free if you drive up to my house in Green Bay. I have a turbo GS as well, but with the 8inj setup. Also I have a heated garage. Everyone else is correct, don't waste the money for sin=me shop to install this stuff, as it really isn't very hard and shouldn't take very long either.

I know I could do it I'm just a little leary about installing fuel components. All I've worked with is intakes, exhausts, brakes, and regular maintenance. Also it seems everytime I work on my car something goes wrong (like my tap breaking off in the manifold when I was tapping the hole for my EGT gauge). I always come out on top at the end but I'd rather not F anything up when it comes to the fuel.

Anyone have a writeup on a Cartech -> SFMU install? I know it that can't be hard, it's just the injectors I'm a little worried about.

Maybe I'll have to try and score some Packer tickets so I have a reason to drive up to Green Gay and take you up on your offer.

Go to Carquest if you have one, and buy an intake manifold gasket set. You need to pull the upper manifold piece off to get to the fuel rail and injectors. You shouldn't reuse gaskets ever, and this set comes with both the upper and lower gaskets for 8 bucks. Thats all you really need to buy. (We just did this stuff like 2 weeks ago.) Well actually go and pick up some Teflon Pipe paste (not tape). Sometimes called Pipe Joint Compound. Put this on all threaded fuel connections. Makes a better seal.

are you sure that you have to pull the upper manifold? I seem to remember taking my rail off and getting the injectors out without pulling the intake mani.

Double the fun.

I don't pull mine anymore. You can actually get to the two 13mm bolts behind the fuel rail without taking off the upper manifold if you try. it also helps if you bend the teo tabs on the top of the rail down (the ones the injector harness is supposed to mount to) or just cut them off.. leaves more room for your hands.
