5925, 440CC Injectors.. Starting fuel pressure to tune
Posted by WheatKing, Jun-04-01 02:05 PM
Hey.. be getting my 440cc injectors soon (thanks shant) and would liek to know the base fuel pressure people are using to tune these and the rise ratio people are using to run them.

I don't have an AFC yet.. so getting a good base tune is important until i can get the AFC or similar to fine tune.

Man I dont think anybody is doing it, or ever done it without an AFC installed first, at least not with 440cc. Can a regulator alone even manage 440cc injectors? I'm gonna fool with the AFC for at least a few days before installing injectors so I can get right to it once installed. I think you should just hold on to the injectors since you wouldn't want to risk any high boosting anyway without the AFC.

The worst that can happen is too much fuel.. i've heard that 32-35PSi is about where you want to be (less begins to effect the spray pattern) with about 1.5-2:1 riser .. of course fine tuned with the AFC.

And the worse that too much fuel can do is cause detonation, increase in EGTs, bogging, spark plug fowling, clogged cat, build up and a slug for a car not to mention the trail of smoke. I guess you could avoid most of the above with a good matched ratio and base fuel pressure (the answer he's looking for) but somewhere in the rpm range wether off idle 3000rpm or 7000rpm there is a good chance the ratio will be way off. If I were to try and run with just a regulator, something smaller than 440cc like 310cc would be a better choice. Either way with 440cc and no AFC the car will likely run better the way it is.

I don't think the car will be able to start without the afc. I know Joe's car had a hell of a time unil he pulled the low rpm setting WAY down.

Bring it on............
