5896, FMU recalibration for 440cc (3:1 or 4:1) Posted by Stan2gnt, Jun-04-01 10:08 AM
Due to finances and time restraints I must take the 440cc,AFC and FMU recalibration ($30) route for fuel enrichment. Recalibration available is 3:1 and 4:1 (and higher but defeats my purpose then). I'm thinking 3:1. Any thoughts?

Sounds good to me Stan. Now you can run the boost without all the sky high fuel pressures. =o) That, and it wont overload the Walboro pump.

I'm actually going to a 1.5/2:1 disk with my 440's. You have to order it separately from the S-FMU. That way I won't have to trim the fuel down so much with the AFC. I can't wait until I actually finish with my fuel system...I've had the turbo for a year and I'm still trying make a fuel set-up that I feel comfortable with. I am impressed with the stock ECU though, it'll run decently on any reasonable fuel set up.

I'm going with 3:1 for now. I have one sitting with my pile of "not as of yet installed" crap.. Like my AFC and 440's. The way i see it.. i can lean it down enough with the AFC to compensate for the excessive increase in fuel pressure created with the 3:1 riser in my setup... there's only so much you can boost on stock internals.

I'm going for 15psi with race gas on forged pistons and prepped stock rods (it only has to hold together for a weekend, then I can go back to sanity and if it doesn't thats life and the cars paid for).

What 1.5/2:1 regulator? Is it a recalibration disk for the vortech fmu? Didn't think there was one. Where'd you get it? I don't want my Cartech regulator.. want to put in the vortech but thought I couldn't go lower than 3:1 with it.

Thats why I was going with the 3:1 I checked vortechs website and the smallest they have listed is 3:1 http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com under accessories and fuel management.

It's the lowest you can go with the Standard FMU. The recal disc they're speaking of is for the SuperFMU... the adjustable one.
