58835, OH SHIFT I THINK I DONE SOMETHIN BAD! HELP! Posted by solareclipse98, Oct-17-03 02:34 PM
So i went to take my arp head bolts *studs* off and it broke free at about 90ftlbs... it was hard to turn at first and slowly got looser and easier to turn.... but for some reason it just seems endless now.. like i turn and turn ....
does this normally take some time or did i f*ck up the stud??
please help.... do head studs typically take a bit to take out?

They're long.
Figure out whether it is the stud or the nut on it that is turning. is it coming up any?

Ok i am really confused here i got the nut off the one finally despite some stupidity on my part... once all the nuts are off how difficult is it to actually lift the head off is there some prying involved? ;(

It should pretty much pop off. I mean, you might have to pull up a bit, but it should come. Someone may have used a sealer. I'm guessing with ARP head studs in place the head has been off before, but not by you??

did you take everything off already? like the manifold and brackets, that gay idler pulley, cam gears, cover bolts, etc...
