Setup:

Star stage 2, stock injectors, SFMU with silver spring and biggest disk. No check valve or resistor thing.

The static screw is *all the way* out. If I pull off the vacuum line, fuel pressure doesnt change.

I'm stuck at like 60-64 idle FP. HELPPPP WAYYY TOOO RICH!

I have new injectors sitting here, but I think they're too big. RC 440's. I was waiting to put them in with the new motor, but if you guys think it will help, I'll do it.

Also, I have an SAFC leaning it out at idle so that it will idle relatively normal.

FP rises fine with boost too.

kinda not what the dude is asking but I was just wondering if you got a fp regulator and your running a fmu would that basically be a sfmu?

I have a similar problem too. I did notice awhile back that my static pressure was around 40-50psi and found that one of my fuel lines were bent and wasn't flowing right.

However, now my pressure is 30psi and I need to lower it to below 15psi with 440cc injectors, but can't figure out why I can't, when others have lowered their's to 10psi!!! Damn..if you ever figure it out, please email me at sclieu@yahoo.com.

no, hes got the sfmu. mike, did you disconnect your stock fpr?

I hope you disconected your stock fpr. then put in the smallest disk with the black spring. is yoru vacuum source plugged directly to the mani now? last we looked at it I don't think it was...

OH JEEz, \YES I disconnected the stock fpr. I can rase the fuel pressure all i want with the static screw, but it doesn't get any lower then 60psi, with either spring.

Yes it has it's own vacuum source now.

If you can't lower your fuel pressure, and you don't have a bad signal line, I would next suggest taking a real close look at your return lines. You might even consider running brand new line from your SFMU back to your fuel pump assembly. Thats what I did and I can lower my FP down near 0.

I have a spare inline fuel pump. I check the return line going to the fuel pump and it looked ok. Is there any chance the fuel pump itself may be bad, and that may be why the fuel pressure can not be lowered?

I think a failing fuel pump would not affect your ability to lower fuel pressure. Theres only a few things that can cause that. Make sure that your SFMU isn't missing any screws in the ports allowing a vacuum leak, and also make sure the rubber diaphragm in the SFMU isn't torn. That would allow air to seep into the SFMU, thus lowering the internal vacuum, which in turn would raise fuel pressure. Keep checking everything you can think of, and I'm sure you'll figure it out soon. :)

Be SURE the adjustment screws on the top lid of the SFMU are all the way in. These screws are in the "vacuum" and "boost" ports. YOu can't see them easily, they are set into the holes..should be allen head screws..If the vac screw is loose, then that can cause your issue..Be sure your lid screws are not overtightend, or too loose either..I just snug them up..If everthing else fails, then it could be a defective unit..but i would save that for last..What kind of fuel return lines do you have? Do you use the stock one, or did you have to run your own(97+ model years)

I ran -4 SS line all the way back, except for a small piece of rubber so that I could clamp it on the tank. Just checked it, and it had fuel in it, so it's not kinked or crushed.

All ports are plugged.

Top screws are torqued to Approx. 30 ft/lbs (vortech reccomends 24)

someone verify this.
isn't -4an line too small for the SFMU return?
I was advised to get -6an for mine, and have no problems with dropping pressure.

30 ft lbs???? Holy crap thats waayy to much..I think its 6 ft lbs if i remember right...you may have damaged your diaphram or even the mating sufaces of the sfmu lids..

Typo. I meant in/lbs.

And Vortech recommends 2 ft/lbs. Fyi.
